Trump Slams McConnell for Reportedly Pulling Funds From Arizona Senate Race

Former President Donald Trump took a public shot at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. on Monday, criticizing the Kentucky Republican for bolstering the reelection campaign of Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, by reportedly diverting funds away from Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters.

“The Old Broken Crow, Mitchell McConnell, is authorizing $9 Million Dollars to be spent in order to beat a great Republican, Kelly [Tshibaka], instead of $9 Million Dollars that could be used for Blake Masters, and other Republicans, that with this money would beat their Democrat opponent," wrote Trump in a statement, posted on Truth Social.

In a nutshell, Trump presumably doesn't think it's wise to pull campaign funds from Masters' battle with incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz. — a typical Republican vs. Democrat competition for the Nov. 8 midterm elections. After all, in Alaska, the top two candidates for the Senate seat are both Republicans — the incumbent Murkowski, and the Trump-backed challenger Tshibaka.

Masters and Tshibaka have already garnered Trump endorsements; and Murkowski voted to convict in Trump's second impeachment trial, which covered from the Jan. 6, 2021 unrest at the Capitol.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, the Senate Leadership Fund, a Republican PAC with ties to McConnell, funded radio, TV, and Web ads in Alaska, knocking Tshibaka's credibility as a candidate over Murkowski.

McConnell has been a target of criticism from within the Republican ranks in recent months.

As Newsmax chronicled in August, McConnell seemingly dismissed the "candidate quality" of certain GOP Senate contenders, while hinting that Republicans could fall short of taking back the Senate in the midterms.

It might have also been a subtle jab at Trump, whose stable of endorsement Senate challengers includes Masters (Arizona), Tshibaka (Alaska), JD Vance (Ohio), state Attorney General Eric Schmitt (Missouri),

McConnell cares about one person’s electoral win - himself.

definitely part of the cover up. I suspect the deal was for him to retain the senate, but he got stabbed in the back on that one

I care about results and facts.
Garland got blocked = good.
Who done it? McConnell.
Why? Hell if I know or care.

Par for the course, if true.

This isn’t the first time he’s done that in recent months.

It's clear that McConnell would rather have a majority of toadies in his caucus who are loyal to him, rather than a majority control of the Senate itself.

Seriously, those opposed to McConnell need to start lobbying Republican senators to select a new leader after the election, now. As long as McConnell keeps his power, the Republicans will be thwarted from their goals, not the Democrats.

“McConnell doesn’t want to be in the majority because then he’d have to handle the impeachment trial of Biden.”

Once the Republicans take control of the senate, I doubt McConnell will be “leader” any more. Trump may well be able to influence that.

Also, it seems to me, Trump has more in his campaign coffers than the rest of the GOP. Not to excuse the piece of crap McConnell.

President Trump, why don’t you fund Masters?

"I think there's probably a greater likelihood the House flips [to Republicans] than the Senate," McConnell said during the summer. "Senate races are just different. They're statewide. Candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome."

The scandal of this is that McConnell is really saying that a democrat is higher quality candidate (in his view) than a republican on the side of MAGA. He's actually admitting out loud to the uniparty being a thing.

This is why Republicans lose ALL THE TIME! It does not matter if a candidate is endorsed by Trump...if the candidate is a Republican and can get us a majority in the House and Senate...who cares who endorses them? McConnell doesn’t like Trump so like McCain, comes in dramatically and uses the thumbs down action. He needs to go!

elucidate ???

That is too big a word for us deplorables.

You still don’t get it.

Took me a year into his presidency and then it clicked.

He makes a point using hyperbole that is over the top to connect with those of who were thinking the same thing anyway and to draw attention to moronic nonsense.

Gotta say, there a good number of stealth voters who are not going to vote for Joe and even more who are openly admitting the border is busted, the economy is beating the hell out of the poor and middle class, crime is out of control, etc
