Gov. Gretchen Whitmer defeated Republican challenger Tudor Dixon on Tuesday, securing her bid for re-election and keeping a Democrat atop the critical swing state, NBC News projects.

Whitmer, who gained a national following during the early days of the pandemic and is viewed as a future contender for higher office, had been seen as a top target for Republicans in 2022.

Polls tightened over the closing weeks. But Whitmer held on, boosted by tens of millions of dollars in ad spending that Dixon, a former right-wing commentator endorsed by former President Donald Trump, never matched.

I was surprised that republicans posted the day after Dixon nomination that they would vote for Whitmer. A little here, a sway there, and she got reelected. It’s history.

same deal in NY, IL, MN and OR.....

These states are like an alcoholic with a gambling problem spiraling down to utter destruction. Instead of checking into re-hab to dry out, voters stopped for a bottle of Jack on the way to the casino.

These states are dead.

All the Whitmer ads hammered Dixon on the abortion issue......That’s all they had to run on.

I have a friend who I happened to mention to how aweful Whitmer was during the lockdown. All the things she had done.

She said, anyone would have done what she did.

At no point did the serious permanent harm Whitmer caused everyone including herself, come into consideration.

*sigh*

The answer is simple; the overturning of Roe v Wade. That is what motivated the Dems in Michigan.

I’m in Michigan. It’s always 3 counties, Wayne (Detroit), Washtenaw (Ann Arbor), and Oakland - which is my county.

IT STINKS. There is raw HATRED for this woman. Every add on FB the comments are 90% “no thank you”. She murdered those in nursing homes during COVID and people are not forgetting that. She never fixed the roads which was a main promise.

ALSO - PROPOSAL 1, 2, and 3 - ALL PASSED. So now, along with abortion, young kids can go on puberty blockers WITHOUT PARENTAL KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT.

EVIL is ruling in Michigan right now.

The Demorats supported an indepdent candidate in the ND House race, Cara Mund-the first woman from North Dakota to win the Miss America contest and Harvard Law School graduate to boot.
Ran as a pro-abortion candidate. She lost to the Republican incumbent, Kelly Armstrong.

The election was a nail biter-Kelly 62.%, Mund 37.6%

So Michigan before and after the recent decision to over turn Roe v Wade was pro-abortion.

The single talking point from the UAW was, “If you don’t vote Dem, you are voting FOR Trump.”

The UAW runs the State and, accordingly, the election count.

They wouldn’t need to cheat but they probably did...just to make sure it was “overwhelming”.

The young women and a lot of the older women only care about abortion. They voted against Republican candidates to punish for the Roe v. Wade decision. I stood for hours yesterday and other days to hand out Republican voter guides at polls and that was what I got from women.

Tudor Dixon, the Muskegon County woman who won the Republican nomination for governor Tuesday, remains a relative unknown in Michigan.

Dixon, who was endorsed Friday by former President Donald Trump, will seek to increase her profile as she faces off against Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in the November election.

Who is Tudor Dixon?
Dixon, 45, of Norton Shores, has worked in the steel industry and in media, including appearances in horror movies between 2008 and 2012 and a stint as a conservative commentator on cable TV's "Real America's Voice."

Tudor Dixon makes a victory speech after winning the Republican Party nomination for governor at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in downtown Grand Rapids on August 2, 2022.

Born and raised in Illinois, Dixon got a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Kentucky before moving to Michigan in 2002, after her father, Vaughn Makary, who died recently, purchased the West Michigan Steel foundry in Muskegon in a bankruptcy sale and began to operate it as Michigan Steel.

[snip]

How did Tudor Dixon get into politics? Dixon said she was drawn into politics through her work in media, after leaving the steel industry.

Did the pandemic also drive Tudor Dixon's politics? Yes. Dixon says the election is "personal" for her, both due to school closures affecting her children and her grandmother's death in a Norton Shores nursing home during the pandemic.

Dixon said her grandmother died from "failure to thrive" because Dixon and other relatives were prohibited from visiting her under state pandemic policies, even though they were vaccinated.

Where does Tudor Dixon stand on other issues?
Dixon opposes abortion rights, with no exceptions for rape or incest.

NAIL. COFFIN.

Tudor Dixon was the Republican FOURTH choice.

The Michigan (D) SOS disqualified the R first three choices because they allegedly did not have enough legal signatures on their petitions.
