Trump is Wrongly Blamed for Subpar GOP Performance
PJ Media ^ | 11/09/2022 | Rick Moran

The Republicans had a pretty good midterm election despite what pundits are claiming. The GOP must win three of the remaining four Senate races to win control of the upper chamber — a goal well within reach as Republicans lead in Nevada and Wisconsin. And the party is within spitting distance of a House majority.

But no red wave. A combination of better-than-expected Democratic enthusiasm and underperforming Republican candidates squandered several opportunities to flip House seats and give the GOP a sizable House majority in January.

How did this happen? If you ask most of the media, the fault for the underperforming Republican Party rests with Donald Trump.

Former Obama campaign strategist David Plouffe said, “I think you have to say Donald Trump has now presided over two disastrous midterm elections.” That’s a matter of opinion. First, Trump did not “preside” over the 2022 midterms. Plouffe is getting his talking points mixed up with reality. Trump wasn’t on the ballot no matter how hard Democrats wished it were so.

Secondly, 2018 wasn’t much of a “disaster,” given that Republicans gained two Senate seats. They lost the House — just as Democrats will almost certainly lose the House in 2022.

“Given the history of presidents in power, Democrats controlling all of Washington, inflation, this should’ve been a much stronger night for Republicans,” Plouffe said. “A bunch of reasons for that. But at the top of them is Donald Trump. He’s deeply unpopular, he supported a bunch of horrible Senate candidates who may end up coughing up the football here.”

The fact that Trump is “unpopular” outside the Republican Party was pointed out by several pundits. This is “analysis”? Trump entered office in 2017 and his favorable numbers were almost immediately underwater.

Looks like Stacey Abrams was axed to "take one for the team" to get Trump.

Good grief, no. Enough with this fraud crap. The Democrats spent millions on her quixotic race.

When this all shakes out, I think there will have been a red wave — a gentle red wave. The press is trying hard to play it down to rob GOPs of victory speeches, parties, etc. Gone are the days of election night definite wins.

Which is funny because Florida cleaned up election fraud. There was a red wave it’s just dies because of rampant and obvious voter fraud . Voter fraud the gop ignores because they get together with the other globohomos and pick which of their friends get in.

Joy Behar has been calling Desantis murderer for months. Desantis can’t take the heat, especially when his poor congressional record comes out.

Exactly
He ran for gov when he should have been working for his constituents and he’ll run for president when he should be running the state of Florida. He’s all politician and we better find out who he’s beholden to.

“So you’re so consumed by Trump hate that you want $5 gas, massive inflation, threat of war with Russia”

We’re already getting that with Trump as the supposed leader of conservatives.

The Republicans had a pretty good midterm election despite what pundits are claiming.

Idiot.

It was a f**king catastrophe, you complete retard.

Worst performance by an opposing party during a presidential midterm since 2002. And Bush had the whole country united behind him after 9/11!

We're dealing with record inflation, record gas prices, a hugely unpopular president, and majorities believing the country is on the wrong track. And we might eke out a win in the House. The Senate will stay 50/50 (if anyone think Herschel Walker is going to get people to the polls next month for the run-off, they're high).

This was supposed to be the election where we punished the worst tyrants for their behavior during COVID. They all kept their jobs.

By every metric, this election was bad. Unless you live in Florida. There you had a pretty good night. That's what a red wave was supposed to look like.

“So far, Trump appears on track for a roughly 91.5% success rate with his general election picks, having eked out 218 victories and 20 losses with about 30 races outstanding.”

That is spinning and whitewashing.

The FACT is the this was a GOP wave year. Biden has the lowest approval of any POTUS in the midterms. 72%+ of people feel the economy is horrible and the nation is on the wrong track. Crime is a major issue.

Under Trump's leadership, the GOP will have set a new record for the LEAST number of seats gained by an out-of-power party in the mid-terms.

You can spin and make statistics all you want....but this election was a disaster for the GOP...and much of it rests on Trump trying to make it all about himself.

Trumps fault??????? I do not think so.
I place the blame squarely on the Republican party.
The GOPe Republicans prefer living with a majority than sharing a MAGA majority.

Trump has always had a tendency to blame others for failings. When he was in financial trouble, he blamed banks and tax laws.

He and Hannity and the Swamp ruined our primary in Pa,

Did he and Hannity and the swamp elect your democrat governor who vetoed every bill that might have fixed your rigged election system?

I support President Trump the same today as when I voted for him twice. I will say the same when I vote for him the third time. May God watch over, bless and protect him and his family always. Let’s never forget what this man gave up to suffer the crushing torment he’s subjected to every day now and likely for the rest of his life.

This is the usual suspects pushing their usual narrative.

Had Republicans won big the line would have been “see??? Republicans do so much better without Trump dragging them down.”

Who is the House Minority Leader right now? Oh. So why isn’t it McCarthy’s fault? He controlled a lot of the money. He insisted on his consultants - or no money from the RNC for their campaigns - for all the Republican House candidates.

We need to see how the races in Nevada, Arizona and Georgia turn out. It sure looks like Republicans have won in Arizona and Nevada and I suspect Herschel Walker will win the runoff in Georgia. If that is indeed the case, then Republicans had a pretty good election aside from the Upper Midwest.

Crist and Demmings were terrible candidates and Democrats can’t commit much election fraud in Florida. The election integrity laws there are pretty tough and don’t leave them any ability to use any of their normal tricks any more.

If the Bush era corrupt RINOs hadn’t fought tooth and nail to prevent exposing the election fraud of 2020 then you might have a case. As it is, Desantis got a good red wave because he stopped a good majority of the election fraud before the midterms.

The Bush Crime Family still has their compromised players, like Liz. Look how many of them participated in Jan. 6th hoax.

After this new batch of MAGA are sworn in we can progress to holding the tyrants responsible. Remember, we are a Constitutional REPUBLIC. No matter how slow, no matter what roadblocks these criminals come up with, the rule of law has to be followed in order for this country to be successful for EVERYONE.

Some people are just mad because Pres. Trump put their two tier justice system FRONT AND CENTER for the whole world to see.

<>Democrats can’t commit much election fraud in Florida<>

It is tougher in FL. No mail-in ballots here.

I wonder what the correlation is between mail-in states and democrat wins.

In her stated policies, Kari Lake is no different from Trump or DeSantis, yet unlike DeSantis, she may lose, which if it happens, I will attribute to rat fraud.

Trump wasn’t on the ballot no matter how hard Democrats wished it were so.

Dumblecrats thought so.

And they voted accordingly even when doing so. They also voted for the familiar. Whitmer and Hochul winning with relative ease? After all their lock down madness? Tells me many were and still are ok with that.

I see no big flips here...a lot of red getting redder and blue getting bluer. Trump WAS a drag in places he wasn’t popular but those were the places we needed to win.

De Santis was never in real doubt and his handling of Ian assured Crist was crushed.

Women were 58% of early voters.

Dems were +37 with single women.

Dems were over 60% with voters under 30.

Abortion was the key issue. Dobbs backlash.

Dems had a few hundred k vote head starts with mail in ballots in PA and other states.

We need to get a better pre Election Day ground game.

Trunp appointed great SCOTUS picks. We paid a political price for the abortion ruling.

Dems used TikTok and social media. They make it one issue and personal. “You won’t be able to get an abortion even if you are raped. Go vote. You won’t be able to gay marry. Go vote. Republicans are the Klan. Go vote.”

Shifting demographics. Dem control of media and education. Republicans will go the way of the Bill Moose party unless we can educate the populace.
