The biggest midterm takeaway: The economy is stronger than we thought
The Hill ^ | 11/10/2022 | GENE MARKS

The day after the midterm elections, I was at a small business client, and of course everyone was talking about the results and how the Democrats had done much better than expected.

One woman, Linda, said something that really caught my attention. She said she voted for Lt. Gov. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) because of his stance on abortion. Another person, David, said the same thing and that he was also concerned about some of the more radical Republicans. I heard similar stories from other employees discussing how they voted, ranging from a distrust of former President Trump to concerns about voting rights. But you know what wasn’t mentioned? The economy.

The chocolate ration has been increased from 30 grams to 20.

The Connecticut gas tax resumes in a few days.

No, what we learned is that abortion is all that matters to people, murdering your unborn baby trumps inflation, crime, everything..get murdered by a hobo all good just as long as you can get a free abortion and kill that “mistake”

Linda, and women like her, are partly to blame for the huge increase in male homosexuality.

New York State’s has been suspended until the end of the year. It works out to about .16 per gallon. Funny, that would have pushed the price of gas to over $4.00 a gallon again. I can’t imagine that the New York state politicians were trying to avoid THAT optic until after the election.

The propaganda in the media and classrooms is stronger than we thought.

Indeed.

In a recent conversation, a reasonably intelligent and well-educated acquaintance insisted that Nancy Pelosi is a "moderate". One must work to achieve that level of disconnect from reality.

these voters sound as clued in as Fetterman. Linda is pro-abortion to the point of being pro-crime and pro-inflation, no matter how much she convinces herself that the terrible economy is good.

Anybody who voted for Democrats this last election. I hope they get what they voted for good and hard. I don’t want to hear any complaints from them about the economy, because they voted for it.

The MSM and the DEMs tricked people into believing the country wasn't in need of change in DC. What's to say this won't work either?

Just because it comes off as a joke to many Freepers doesn't mean the rest of the country sees it the same way. They don't.

The biggest takeaway is that polling is still terrible at their so-called trade.

Was the Hill bought out by the WP and the NYT?

Good grief they’ve lost it.

The BLS produces two monthly jobs numbers, the Establishment survey of large corporations, and the Household survey. The two have been sharply diverging since March. It’s not normal for them to do that.

The Establishment numbers, which the media focuses on, have shown fairly strong job numbers, while the Household shows no growth since March. Plus a bunch of large corporations have announced layoffs and hiring freezes.

Zero Hedge has been following this. I wanted to post their analysis, but Free Republic blocks them.
