Police on Thursday reaffirmed that the grisly killings of four University of Idaho students were part of a "targeted attack" the day after authorities appeared to suggest the opposite.
“We remain consistent in our belief that this was indeed a targeted attack but have not concluded if the target was the residence or its occupants,” a spokesperson for the Moscow Police Department told NBC News.
Authorities have released conflicting statements since Madison Mogen, 21; Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and her boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20, were found fatally stabbed at an off-campus home in Moscow on Nov. 13.
The slayings — described by a local coroner as one of the most “gruesome” she had ever seen — have left the victims’ families and the public with many questions.

But would not the first victim scream or something to warn the others? Were all the victims asleep? In the same room?
Just seems that when you are stabbing one, the others would have reacted somehow?
I don’t know.
I read an article last week about a similar home invasion stabbing murder in Eugene Oregon on the campus of the university. That incident has never been solved and the thought was maybe there is a link between the two.
Why would this racial killer pass up the opportunity to kill two more presumably white college students on his way out the front door?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Could be because the killer(s) didn’t know they were there.
The residence? Why then wasn’t the building stabbed? Maybe somebody had a severe hard on for the landlord and wanted to discourage future renters.
This is from one of the deceased daughters dad: it sounds like he is suggesting there was criminal activity by one or all of the victims. It is interesting that the two girls were killed in the same bed, when they both had separate bedrooms. So did someone they know need a place to sleep and they gave up one of the rooms or did they hear something and became afraid. I guess that will depend if the surviving room mates know the two girls routinely slept together.
For the dad. “I do have some inkling that there was some behavior difference. … When you commit a crime, you [have] different behaviors,” Steven Goncalves said on “The Story with Martha MacCallum” when asked whether his daughter may have been the target of the Nov. 13 attack, adding later that he was referring to “behavior of the victims.”
Some oddities....(IMHO)
Goncalves and Mogen were supposed to be best friends since childhood....some of the pics released show them in poses that are almost hugging but certainly with lots of physical contact....odd to me, because best friends from childhood usually start diverging as they pursue their life courses and their childhood hugs give way to adult independent spacing and living. After all, they were supposedly killed while sleeping in the same bed....
Another oddity...the other roommates...first floor...were they in on it....did they let killer in?
The father of Goncalcvs seems awfully analytical...says he cannot grieve till justice done....I would guess he would be so grief stricken and angry, he wouldn’t even talk....
Don’t know the importance of these observations...but sounds like police are saying little to see how key characters behave and eventually break....
The father is strange, that’s for sure.
Is this a lib town or conservative area?
= = =
A University town. That student/staff population is liberal.
Surrounding Idaho is working/conservative.
Don’t think this is part of the incident.

It looks like this apartment was kind of like a split level.
You could go in and out of a ‘front’ door on the ‘2nd’ level and maybe not know there was a lower level.
If it was first floor, then yes you raise a good point.
If it was second floor balcony sliding glass door, then avoidance of first floor survivors makes perfect sense.
The Mexican Drug Cartel creeps are responsible for this gruesome series of murders.
Two of the girls’ mothers were arrested on drug possession and trafficking heroin charges. The Cartels are notorious for cutting people into pieces with knives and machetes to “keep people quiet” in the face of potential cooperation with police and prosecutors.
At least one of them was murdered to send the message to the mom on heroin trafficking charges. The other murdered kids were probably not intended for murder victims, but were killed as potential witnesses.
