Japan Will Jointly Develop Next-Generation Fighter Jet With UK, Italy
Breitbart ^ | 12/09/2022 | BREITBART LONDON

Japan announced Friday that it will jointly develop its next-generation fighter jet with the U.K. and Italy as it looks to expand defense cooperation beyond its traditional ally, the United States.

The Mitsubishi F-X fighter jet will replace the aging fleet of F-2s that Japan previously developed with the United States.

The nations will merge their current plans for development of next-generation planes – the F-X and Britain’s Tempest, a successor to the Eurofighter Typhoon – to produce the new combat aircraft for deployment in 2035. The deal will give Japan greater support in countering China’s growing assertiveness and allow Britain a bigger presence in the Indo-Pacific region.

The announcement came four days after Prime Minister Fumio Kishida set spending targets aimed at building up Japan’s military capability, including a huge boost in defense spending over the next five years. To meet the five-year spending total of 43 trillion yen ($316 billion), the government will need an extra 4 trillion yen ($30 billion) in defense spending annually. Of that, a quarter is to be funded through tax increases.

With Italy involved it should turn out to be quite stylish.

Yes, and it being Japanese will be quite efficient.

But being part UK, will be overpriced...................

If they UK weren’t involved, I bet the device would also be an excellent pasta maker.

Just don't let the UK supply the gauges, electrical or ignition.

And it’s actually a little sad. Italy was a hotbed of awesome aircraft in the pre-WWII era. They build some beautiful and awesome planes. Long ago now....

But even more so than the Germans, the Italians either build awesome things, or they screw it up in ways that defy the imagination.

I am a sucker for Italian styling. Must be my Serbian blood. We all geek out for Italian stuff. I’m getting the stator rewound for my Moto Guzzi after it broke down 100 miles from home. I said sucker, didn’t I? Hurt me again, baby!

That is why you let the Japanese handle the electrical systems.

I still have the following items all made by Panasonic:

AM/FM Clock radio made in 1980

AM/FM Stereo with eight track and Thrusters speakers made in 1977

My first flatscreen 42” Plasma TV bought at Sears

If it stops them getting a peek at the US’s Gen6 fighter technology, it’s a good thing.

Good for them. Meanwhile Xi and Biden have a bromance. Every day, I am shocked to think of the worst wars involving the world are heating up.
I am certain we aren’t even hearing a quarter of the truth.

I’ve owned two lemons in my lifetime : one a 1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 , and the other a 1977 Triumph TR7 . Both were nightmares from day one . Best cars I’ve owned were all Japanese , either Toyota or Honda .

You can’t kill Japanese-made electronics made in the 70’s/80’s/90’s . I have a top end Trio ( Marantz ) turntable made in 1975 that still works like a champ . All I’ve done is replace the stylus regularly , My Onkyo amp/receiver was bought in 1995 and I’ve never had a problem with it . Before the Onkyo I had a Pioneer amp/receiver which I sadly had to sell to a Japanese friend before moving back to the USA for 6 months in 1995 ( when I bought the Onkyo ) . It was bought in 1981 and she is still using it !

If it stops them getting a peek at the US’s Gen6 fighter technology, it’s a good thing.

Pretty much every US manufacturer made proposals to join the project. Japan/UK/Italy were smart to keep them out. Once the US is involved, they start limiting the transfer of technology and exert controls on the configuration. UK and Italy were already working on a 6th gen fighter, the Tempest. I expect the programs will combine.
