The criminology student accused of slaying four University of Idaho students had stalked his alleged victims before the November murders and wore gloves in a supermarket weeks afterwards, according to a new report.
Cellphone data shows that Bryan Kohberger, 28, was often in the same location as the three sorority sisters and one of their boyfriends before he allegedly slashed them to death as they apparently slept at an off campus house, a source close to one of the case’s investigators told The Daily Mail.
Kohberger also seemed to be careful about not leaving fingerprints in public even as he fled to his native state of Pennsylvania in recent days, the anonymous source told the outlet Sunday.
“He’s not stupid and has been very careful,” said the source, who claimed to be “good friends” with one of the cops who had surveilled the murder suspect in the days before his arrest.
“He followed him into a Giant [Pennsylvania grocery store chain] and wore gloves the entire time,” the source reportedly said of his investigator pal.
“Not sure if they ever interacted – but his cell phone pings followed their every move for weeks,” the source reportedly said of Kohberger’s alleged stalking.

Kohberger had continued to serve as a teacher’s assistant at the university before driving his white Hyundai Elantra across the country in the days before Christmas with suspicious cops hot on his trail.
His father — who is not said to be a suspect — had flown to Idaho to make the 2,500 mile drive with his son after Kohberger completed his first semester of the PhD program at the university, the suspect’s lawyer said.

If this turns out to be his first murder, he must've been plotting and planning meticulously for a long time. That's probably why he moved from his home state all the way to the other side of the country. He thought he could get away with it.
Since he had no previous criminal record ( at least haven’t heard of one) they could have matched up the DNA via all those DNA heredity programs out there.
Police say his DNA was at the scene of the crime.
But, so many people were in and out of that house.
Whether he’s guilty or innocent, he probably will tell a different story.
RULE 1 - If you plan to be a serial killer do NOT submit your DNA to ancestry.com
That's a good question.
He was a security guard in PA. I wonder if he had to submit DNA and/or finger prints to get that job.
Good question... Maybe the gloves were to hide injuries on his hands.
I would think he would at least have to submit fingerprints for the job. Not so sure about DNA sample.
Did kid wear gloves at stops along the way? What did Dad think about that?
That’s a good question.
= = =
Exploring that will be a whole episode in my season 1.
I don’t know if I will reveal injuries to hands, or catch the kid wiping off the door knob to a restroom at a quickey-mart.
Thing about ancestry testing is he would not have had to submit his. They can detect close genetic links.
What you speak of is an ancestral group match.A DNA match proof at the crime seen they need a sample of his own DNA to match. For then to get that sample as admissable evidence it has to be by the accused consent or by a court order. The accused is not required to give evidence against himself.
That’s why I am saying the evidence against the accused is circumstantial at this point. That may change after his extraditio to Idaho, we will see.
BUt so far there is no evidence connecting him directly to the crime scene that can be adduced as admissible evidence on court.
He's not as smart as he thinks he is...
On the other hand, he could say he only happened to be at the same places at the same time because he lives in the area. He might even argue that, if he were stalking anyone, he would've known not to take his cell phone. Maybe that's what his lawyer will argue. We'll see...
Perhaps he wore gloves to hide a wound or wounds sustained while knifing these people. Such killing is very bloody and the ‘tools’ tend to become slippery when ‘wet’
No need for that. Phones are the best tracking devices. Not many people realize or care they can be monitored and tracked 24/7 with a phone. People cannot envision life without a cell phone.
How did he know the victims?
The alleged perp is a vegan. One or two of the victims worked at a local vegetarian restaurant. (I read these assertions in the media, and have not verified them.)
They were indeed. When the FBI sticks to finding criminals, they do a good job!
I believe the SC ruled that any discarded cup, straw, chewing gum, etc can be scrounged and tested to see if the dna found at the crime scene matches the suspect’s discarded stuff. Once he discards it, it is fair game, no court order needed.
Maybe he came down from Pullman to Moscow to bar hop and maybe score, and was turned down, and being a psycho, took it personal.
It would come out soon enough anyway.
