Uvalde police chief wins appeal to upgrade termination record

Even though he was fired for cause, Pete Arredondo, the Texas school district police chief terminated for his actions on the day of a schoolhouse massacre last year, won an appeal to remove a blemish from his discharge file, according to a state think tank that studied his case file.

The decision does not enable Arredondo to get his job in Uvalde back, but it clears his record in the event he seeks employment at another agency.

"The whole point of this … discharge system is to be a red flag for hiring agencies," said Luis Soberon, a policy adviser for think tank Texas 2036 who released the report Tuesday. "If that is the primary function of this system, it doesn't work very well."........

The actual case documents are confidential, according to Shane Linkous, general counsel at State Office of Administrative Hearings. So Soberon doesn't know what termination classification Arredondo had received prior to his appeal, nor the arguments he made in favor of his appeal.

But, winning his appeal means that he doesn't have a dishonorable discharge -- the lowest of the three tiers -- on his policing record........"

The bureaucracy protects its' own no matter what! I doubt Arredondo gets another law enforcement job since his case is so notorious, but he might. Things are really screwed up now.

Every potential employer should ask him, So what’s this blood on your resume?

This is funny. As if nobody is going to know that he’s the boy who sat on his thumbs while a democrat supporter was blasting little kids. I don’t think a resume upgrade is going to matter much.

He may find employment with a cartel business cutout as he was doing what he knew he had to do during the shooting. He was desperate to find a cartel contact to tell him if the shooter was a ‘muchacho’ or just some local loon (as he appears to have been). If the shooter was a ‘muchacho-(cartel made man) rhen he was untouchable. If Arredondo had let anyone kill him Arredondo and his family would have paid with their lives. That is the code of the ‘trafficantos’. No outsider can ever harm ‘one of the boys’ no matter what outrage he is perpetrating. Uvalde , as is the rest of the Neches Strip is pretty much narco controlled territory. Everone knows it, it is just a ‘truth that cannot be spoken’.

If America was a serious country he would have turned his gun on himself in shame.

Arredondo knows some angles, maybe this would help him. It should not!

It still has not hit Arredondo that he and his name are infamous all over the world for what he did and did not do.

**Arredondo…The guy under Authority by Color of Law, intensionally allowed school kids to be executed as the world watched.

I watched the video for the first time the other day. It was unbelievable watching all those cops hang out in the hallway while the scumbag was in a room killing kids. I couldn't tell if the two guys running from where the perp crashed his car were cops or not. It seemed like they had plenty of time to warn the school. If they were armed cops they also could have set up a position to ambush the scumbag.

A private security firm will snap him up.

How about a big red L tattooed on his forehead?

Every P.D. needs a guy to run around hollering “Stand Down!” It really sounds leftwing and macho.

I don't see this turd getting an job with a legit department anywhere - keyword legit. He's ethically and judgmentally challenged, a liability to have around. Though maybe this "upgrade" could preserve his eligibility to be a Class 3 armed security guard. Earn like 30 to 40-something bucks an hour, from someone. He could be a real Officer Silvio-type, like from the Sicario movie.

Another sketchy character in all this is state senator Roland Gutierrez, who's been furiously trying to take all the stink off the Uvalde locals and put it on the DPS from the very start. He's an attorney who served 13 years in a rinky-dink little House district around Soviet Antonio for 13 years, took the Senate seat from a repub in 2021, and has been a camera hound about this Uvalde business ever since. If there's been any input from the House representative who covers Uvalde, haven't seen any, though maybe I've missed it. Gutierrez has the stench of a border crook about him I can't put my finger on that maybe a look though his communications & financial records would clarify.
