Socialist darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threw one of her campaign staffers under the bus after the Democrat apparently flouted House ethics rules by attending the 2021 Met Gala wearing luxurious apparel that included a glitzy gown with “Tax the Rich” inscribed across the back in blood-red letters.
The Bronx and Queens rep, 33, claimed to investigators with the Office of Congressional Ethics she was unaware that thousands of dollars for her dress rental, shoes, hair, makeup and other accouterments went unpaid for months after the event, leaving her open to allegations of improperly accepting gifts.
“I just never, ever, ever would have allowed that to happen knowing what I have learned,” Ocasio-Cortez said during a May 2022 interview. “But I wasn’t privy to the invoices, wasn’t privy to the ones that had been sent.”
The “Squad” member claimed her underling had access to her credit cards and was tasked with paying the hair stylists, makeup artists, and dressmakers.

So she's a common thief. How very communist of her.
I don’t understand how this works — except, of course, for obvious built-in corruption.
Her salary is something like $175,000. Which is kind of a lot, but not really — it costs a lot to live in DC and to have any sort of lifestyle. Losing track of the thousands of dollars she spent on one particular party is not something anyone would do. She doesn’t have that kind of money (or ... shouldn’t have that kind of money).
So, the spending on the party (which she was so casual about) came not from her, but from some other source. What kind of expense fund does she have? And why? These people have really set themselves up as royalty.
Her boyfriend works for her also SO he is paid $150,000 their combined incomes are $325,000 a year THEN I am sure she has other income BECAUSE for some reason these bastards ALL end up wealthy beyond their means!!!
And if bull frogs had wings and wheels they wouldn’t bump their ass when they hop.
IF you go to Congress and come out poor you did it wrong.
Well, there is that hootchie-kootchie dance video she did (while she was in college???), but that was years ago and Don Lemon is convinced she is past her prime already.
If anything, blame her court-appointed guardian, whoever that might be.
That a lowly House member has an entourage to handle her personal affairs like a Hollywood bigshot is repulsive in the extreme. This budding aristocrat flouncing around in her graft-obtained wealth while lording it over a supposedly poor section of the city is very third world. (I say supposedly poor because I’m sure the people of the district she represents are rich in transfer payments from taxpayers.)
Paying invoices for services or goods rendered, along with those pesky taxes, are for the little people!
If you haven't been to her district and seen the "rich" people who live there, you need to get out more.
Interesting defense; they weren’t gifts, I stole them! Totally believable.
Dear Banking and Oil Company Executives,
Next time AOC pulls an attempted “gotcha” on you as you sit before some wasteful committee hearing, please tailor the above sentence to fit the scenario as your response.
You're Welcome.
I’m surprised Sandy hasn’t been approached by the white boyz in Hollywood to do the remakes of all the old Shirley Temple movies. They’ll probably go with Latrine Jean-Pierre now. Sandy missed a big opportunity screwing around on Capitol Hill.
Didn’t AOC stiff her fellow bartenders of tips ?
If wishes were horses....beggars would ride.
Can she explain how she became a multimillionaire on a House Rep salary? Maybe her other aide kept putting bribe money into her account?
> “I just never, ever, ever would have allowed that to happen knowing what I have learned,”
That is a strange statement. I assume she means that she “learned” that she got caught.
For AOC, Congress is just a great big Tip Jar.
Thinking the same thing. It’s what communists do.
