Its a very wierd thing to have a normal household only to discover not far away a family is going to hell.
A couple of years ago I had just about decided to leave a neighborhood because the whole area felt off balance. I became convinced it was time to leave when a couple houses down there was gunfire. I remember being on the phone. Whoever was on the other end of the line could hear the gunfire. I shrugged it off as firecrackers. But then after I put the phone down —the police arrived and cordoned off the neighbor’s building.
I though to myself. (Well, that settles it. I’m gone.)
There was a murder-suicide of an entire family on the street where I lived back in 1976 Farmington NM. It is something you just don’t forget.
