In total, 20 European countries have joined EU’s plan for joint procurement of 155mm artillery shells for Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said during a briefing with his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Lansbergis in Kyiv, Ukrainian news outlet European Pravda reported on March 24.

“As of today, 19 member states of the European Union and Norway have already joined this project,” said Kuleba.

“That is, 20 countries that will be involved in one form or another in the joint production of 155 caliber ammunition, which is extremely necessary for Ukraine.”

During his meeting with Landsbergis, Kuleba thanked Lithuania for spearheading the project.

“We coordinated further steps to deliver artillery shells to Ukraine as soon as possible within this pan-European mechanism so that it would work effectively,” Kuleba said.

On March 20, 17 EU countries and Norway signed an agreement on joint purchases of ammunition for Ukraine and their own national stocks. According to Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, the program will procure 1 million of shells.

1 million shells.

I’ve heard varying accounts of Russian usage. Anywhere from 30-60K/day. So this is about 30-60 days usage give or take.

Thank you for this posting this article.
I was unaware of the agreement signed on March 20 by 17 EU countries and Norway signed on the joint purchases of ammunition for Ukraine and their own national stocks.

I had heard the statement 1 MILLION shells would be given to Ukraine. But, I was not aware that 17 EU countries and Norway had signed a formal agreement, according to Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, will procure those 1 MILLION shells.

Again, thank you for posting info.

It has been a long time since Russia was using shells at that rate, they have been suffering shortages for a long time.

So, it takes twenty Western countries to supply a meager amount of artillery shells to fight Russia? ….the West is in trouble, big trouble.

Polish ammunition firm to boost output severalfold as part of EU-Ukraine plan

Polish ammunition maker Dezamet, a unit of state arms producer Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), will substantially boost capacity to supply EU-funded ammunition to Ukraine, Poland's prime minister said on Saturday.

PGZ plans to increase its workforce by several thousand people, chief executive Sebastian Chwalek said on Friday. The group currently employs around 20,000 people.

“”So, it takes twenty Western countries to supply a meager amount of artillery shells to fight Russia? ….the West is in trouble, big trouble.””

What a negative view, this article is revealing the fixes taking place in this area, it is positive, for we Westerners we should be glad about all the fixes and positive changes this invasion has brought into happening for the West.

When I see all the new solutions and manufacturing, budgeting, and awareness for our defenses against what is coming in the future for the West and the world, I see a glass half full, not half empty.
