PROLOGUE: THE INFORMATION WAR In 1950, Sen. Joseph McCarthy claimed that he had proof of a communist spy ring operating inside the government. Overnight, the explosive accusations blew up in the national press, but the details kept changing. Initially, McCarthy said he had a list with the names of 205 communists in the State Department; the next day he revised it to 57. Since he kept the list a secret, the inconsistencies were beside the point. The point was the power of the accusation, which made McCarthy’s name synonymous with the politics of the era.
For more than half a century, McCarthyism stood as a defining chapter in the worldview of American liberals: a warning about the dangerous allure of blacklists, witch hunts, and demagogues.
Until 2017, that is, when another list of alleged Russian agents roiled the American press and political class. A new outfit called Hamilton 68 claimed to have discovered hundreds of Russian-affiliated accounts that had infiltrated Twitter to sow chaos and help Donald Trump win the election. Russia stood accused of hacking social media platforms, the new centers of power, and using them to covertly direct events inside the United States.

It is indeed. I’m not even half way through reading it and it is bringing to mind some things of which I had forgotten the details.
Of course, it is ticking me off as I now do recall those details.

McCarthy was right.
There were communists within the government the, and many times as many in modern times, especially now. They don’t want to be recognized as communists, but, what they do is textbook communism.
You don’t have to call yourself a criminal to be one. You don’t have to acknowledge that you and your buddies are corrupt, but, what you do is downright corruption. You don’t have to acknowledge that you steal elections, but, we know when you do.
The democrat party is full of communists, though the pretend to be free-market proponents. You don’t have to directly let people know that you are anti-American/anti-constitution/anti-human-rights/anti-religion, but, what you do reveals that you are all of that.
You will deny and accuse others of what you do, in order to hide that you are what you accuse others of being and do.
What has been erased from the Media’s memory is the $$$Millions the Russians paid The Clinton Foundation before the 2016 election. Hillary was bought and paid for by the Russians - she was their Candidate. Slick Willy was getting $500,000 for a 5 minute speech in Moscow and his choice of Russian Women.
There is no way the Russians don’t have all of this on tape ready to use. Trump was not the Russian Candidate.

My parents generation of Republicans knew Joe was right all along, so my generation of Republicans grew up holding that belief long before 1991.
What ticks me off is how the proof that came in 1991 made zero difference. Democrats and the MSM still insist McCarthy was a power-happy tyrant who abused his power to ruin innocent people’s lives - and it seems like hardly anyone on our side pushes back.
Same thing with Nixon and the Watergate hoax. Same thing with Trump and the Russia hoax. The Left gets to write the fake news, and after a while the fake news becomes the fake history, which is taught to our children in “history” class.
Anne WhatsHerName wrote a book on the uncovering the truth about Joe but since she’s such a contrarian and publicity hound - her book, other than an initial splash, has been ignored ever since.
Excellent article...I agree with the comment describing a censorship regime’s primary purpose is not to oppress but to rule. The American majority’s primary concern is now fun times and stuff. This is a dangerous time.

True and unfortunately now our entire government is communist. IRS, FBI, CIA, Government schools, government medicine, etc. I really don’t think there is a recovery from it.

I really angers me when I read, watch, or hear some supposed conservative flippantly throw out McCarthy as an example of speculation and overreach. The Venona Files and other archived info released after the fall of the USSR showed McCarthy to be correct.
“Blacklisted By History” should be mandatory reading for every single American. M. Stanton Evans. Profusely well documented; stands accepted American History as it has been reported and taught on its head.

I ‘m still reading but we need to keep in mind that the FBI and other government agencies are actively targeting US citizens/Christians as the enemy. This is not just info war. It is actual war.
Yeah, I bought that book and a couple of her other ones.
Strange what happened to her around the time Trump got elected in 2016. From that moment foreword, she has never said anything that made any sense.
I think Trump must have said something that hurt her feelings - she could never bring herself to say anything good about him. Weird.
