Reuters interviewed 35 Republicans following Thursday's indictment of former President Donald Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office. Of the 20 who said they were supporting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, 14 said that they were thinking of transitioning from supporting DeSantis as their preferred 2024 candidate to back to Trump.
According to Reuters, one man, 75-year-old Larry White of Nevada said, "Now I am absolutely voting for Trump. The indictment was the last straw for me, because Trump has suffered so much political abuse. I think he's the strongest candidate to contest what the left is doing. I'm all in."
White, a musician and composer who described himself as a Republican conservative, said he was favoring DeSantis as he thought the Florida governor had a better chance in the general, but felt compelled to back Trump after Bragg's indictment.
On Saturday Reuters talked to a man attending a Republican club meeting in Henderson, Nevada, Pepe Kahn, who said, "I was really for Ron DeSantis. I'm now more likely to support Trump than before. I think people who were more neutral than before will now go in to bat for him. This is the most frightening thing I've ever seen in the US."
Nevada votes early in the primary process, where voters in their political party pick their preferred candidate, and the state has served as a bellwether in indicating who will win the nomination.
Reuters spoke to 35 GOP voters total and 20 had indicated that they were DeSantis voters with 14 moving back to Trump while 6 stuck with the Florida governor.
All 35 said that the charges were a "meritless, politically motivated persecution of Trump," reports Reuters.
The Nevada voters reflect recent polling showing that Donald Trump has surged in the polls following news of his indictment. Trump, who was already leading DeSantis in recent polls now leads Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as the GOP frontrunner for president in 2024 by 26 percentage points according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll.
On Saturday, a group of supporters for former President Donald Trump gathered outside the Cradle of Aviation in Garden City, Long Island where Florida Governor Ron DeSantis gave a speech promoting his book. They shouted "we love Trump" outside the event the same day supporters showed up outside Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate to show support and chant the same phrase.
The Uniparty/Soros alliance may have shot themselves in the foot. No Uniparty hand picked candidate this time.
So, Trump called Soros to do this for his campaign?
And the reason is election integrity. It's a point in DeSantis' favor that he did it in his state.
I don't know why so many Freepers are okay with Trump sitting on a war chest for election integrity and not doing anything for 2024?
Speaking of Manhattan, here’s a video of it around 1900. Heck of a city even back then.

You have that bass ackwards. Left media, the RINOs, and the Bushes are propping Desantis.
means nothing....
Have you notice Trump only goes after Republicans to the right of his buddy McConnell now? Other than his trial, he doesn't criticize Democrats.
the desantis team is currently talking to a leftist da about possible felonies to boost his polling numbers
President Trump to da bragg:
thanks for the street cred!
I support Trump against the Nazi persecutors 100%. But I still believe that DeSantis is the stronger potential candidate.
How is “the left media” helping Desantis? tia
I think it’s important to point out that this day in history happens to be the 55th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This is not mere coincidence as far
as I’m concerned.
I have yet to see a poll of Independents.
In case people have forgotten, it is they who decide everything.
Yes, and also the better man. Trump is still far superior to Biden, but so is the guy who collects our garbage.
DeSantis supports Dominion and all voting machines in his state.
Trump is for paper only ballots.
