You may have it about Murdoch.His biggest concern accd. to site after site is “succession”. Who takes over and how they will run his empire. No telling what the deep state has on whom or how they will power up the show when Murdoch is gone.
Given the precipitous pace of the "firing" and the absolute vacancy of either preparation or cover story I've got to vote for a whole lot more sinister motive(s).

The really bad news about that calculation is that "somebody" has got to be seriously panicked to go to that extreme and once it was excercised there are no bounds at all on the scope of violence employed in the future.
