Trump made Desantis and now meatball is going to run against Trump? Speaking for myself I have a white hot hate for DeoSanctus the King of Backstabbers.

This is complicated by the fact that both are residents of Florida

That's OK as long as they apply the Cheney (Richard B.) standard of residency.

Trump could announce he was a resident of Wyoming and all would be well.

Trump did not “make” Desantis. He did endorse him in 2018 and that appears to have helped, but after that Trump had nothing to do with his success as governor. Desantis first supported Trump in 2016 and through 2018 as a congressman, and then he y supported Trump in 2020, so the idea that Desantis owes it to Trump to stay out of the race is childish. You could just as easily say Trump owed it to Desantis to endorse him in 2018 since Desantis supported Trump first. And after the crap Trump pulled on Desantis in 2022 and all of the attacks since then, Desantis has no obligation to Trump at all.

Cheney had long-standing ties to Wyoming (he was their congressman for years) and still owned property in Wyoming, so moving his domicile back to Wyoming was a simple thing. Trump could not just announce he is a resident of Wyoming, but he could move his domicile to a state where he already has ties and owns property fairly easily.

"Sorry don't trust DeSantis."

Well, that's what my son says. He says the MSM is way to soft on DeSantis. After some of the stuff he has done in Florida of recent, they're not attacking him like you think they would. My son thinks there's Something fishy about that..

I think maybe they're just saving it all up to use a fresh ammo against him if he decides to run for the job.. Or maybe they're thinking ANYBODY but Trump..

But, in my opinion, if DeSantis is just HALF honest, that would be twice as good as Pence ever was..

What serious person would ever work for Donald Trump at this point?

Everyone who has ever tried has come away seriously disillusioned and all bridges burned/

Of course, it has tp be that they all failed Trump somehow, right?

Oh, please.

Everyone stabs poor old Donald in the back--especially the very "best" people he promised us all he would have working for him .

He dared to win a swing state by 20 points and show Trump for the loser he is.

Trump could announce he was a resident of Wyoming and all would be well.

Cheney spent a huge chunk of his life in Wyoming, and was a U.S. Rep. from same. Trump could pick another state with one of his hotels that isn't total commie (Nevada?), I suppose. I doubt he has even a slight connection with Wyoming.

My point was, Cheney was provably a resident of Texas and should have been disqualified from receiving electoral votes from that State if GWB got them.

I don’t care about this issue at all, Trump is not going to be the GOP nominee and will probably be in ADX Florence by Summer 2024, DeSantis is hopeless on my major issues, I voted for Ed Clark in 1980 and Ross Perot twice, so I’m probably going to find someone who can earn my vote by November 2024.

Since Trump and his supporters have spent months trashing DeSantis, why shoukd DeSantis and his supporters embrace Trump?

Sauce for the goose.

“why do so many on Free Republic dislike DeSantis?”

The answer is very simple, yet sad.

Numerous — quite possibly most — Freepers suffer from a novel malady known as DDS — DeSantis Derangement Syndrome. It’s as irrational, and apparently as incurable, as TDS — Trump Derangement Syndrome.

It’s quite tragic, really

So either DeSantis or Trump would have to sacrifice the electoral votes of Florida, which is crucial to their election prospects.

They have no election prospects.

Trump has a hard ceiling of 232, DeSantis probably much less.
