Exactly…welcome to blue wokeness…
Yes…more fentanyl…less naloxone…
On the spot reporting right here on FR!
Just back from the Target in downtown SF, in the Metreon - I’ve shopped here since it opened, it was our go-to place for “pick up X on your way home”.
-no obvious shoplifting while I was there.
- surprisingly few shoppers it seems, for 10:00am Friday. Just two checkout lines. This place was always busy, albeit the biggest crowds were in the afternoon-evening.
- there were a few yellow jacketed security guards.
- only some things were in plastic cabinets/security containers. A lot of the stuff in the drugstore section (joint operation with CVS), notably popular remedies like Tylenol, etc, shaving products, toothpaste, some shampoos, all the Tide detergent (but not the others? Why?). Baby food, underwear, Lego toys, most electronic things, etc.
- Not locked down were groceries, clothing, housewares, etc. @90% of display space.
-I’d say maybe 10% was locked down one way or another.
General impression is that business is very slow. I wouldn’t be surprised if it closes. But I bet that Target gets leasing incentives from the Metreon owners (Starwood-Westfield) to stay. Else the whole Metreon complex becomes a total white elephant.
Comment on prices -
Just checked some groceries.
It’s pretty shocking, vs Europe. Groceries are off the charts. Milk and eggs are twice the price in Madrid. Also cheese and meats. And I’m talking the El Corte Ingles supermarket section, in the middle of Madrid, which is something like Whole Foods.
I hope this is just so for downtown SF.
“Remember the trains being looted in California?”
I remember that but think of the thousands of Amazon delivery trucks, unguarded (so far), going on isolated streets. Not sure I want to drive one of those things.
Yup, I remember that. Anyway, wanna stop theft and looting? A 12 gauge shotgun works great. One-and-done.
PRICE REFERENCE (COSTCO, Concord, CA):
WHOLE MILK: $3.40/ga (2ga for $6.79)
GRADE A EGGS: $2.50/dz (2dz for $4.99)
Target downtown SF whole milk 3.95/ga
Website shows $3.89/ga for the ‘Good & Gather’ brand at the store in San Ramon, so the SF pricing isn’t bad at all.
A couple more data points, here:
Whole Milk at Lucky, Concord, CA: $4.99/ga
Smart & Final in Pleasant Hill commonly has it for less than $4/ga — I think $3.79/ga was the last price I paid there.
yup
