When Fidel Castro killed thousands and took over as dictator he went back on his promise to have free elections for Cuba. He said he had to order a temporary emergency cessation because “there are enemies of the people’s revolution and I have to protect the needs of the people.” The temporary time stretched into years followed by “everybody loves Fidel” campaigns.
When I was quite young, I had friends whose families had fled Castro’s Cuba. They were not fans of the SOB.
