Yellen: 14th Amendment Can’t Be Appropriately Used to Raise Debt Ceiling

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that President Joe Biden can not invoke the 14th Amendment to address the debt ceiling under the current circumstances.

Anchor Chuck Todd pleaded, “Does the 14th Amendment fall under the category of extraordinary measures?”

Yellen said, “Well, extraordinary measures is used in a different way, but there hasn’t been much discussion of the 14th Amendment, and as President Biden said, I believe this morning, it doesn’t seem like something that could be appropriately used in these circumstances given the legal uncertainty around it and given the tight timeframe we’re on. So my devout hope is that Congress will raise the debt ceiling and we will pay all of our bills.”

Van Hollen: MAGA GOP ‘Threatening to Blow Up the Economy if We Don’t Do Things Exactly Their Way’

Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week (Still without David Brinkley)” that Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) attempts to negotiate with the Biden administration on the debt ceiling were really “MAGA Republicans” “threatening to blow up the economy if we don’t do things exactly their way.”

Nope, you dum bass! Reining in government spending is the ONLY way to help the economy!

Here's my proof that ex-slaves got their "40 acres and a mule":

The later half of the 19th Century saw a huge increase in cotton product. Far more than the antebellum years. This was before the age of mechanization and new cotton lands in the desert Southwest.

Almost all of the 19th century post Civil War cotton comes from sharecroppers, white and black. Note when the "area" (black line) of cotton grew in the 1920s. That was due mainly to Arizona and California irrigation. Once post WWII mechanization occurs, the area of cotton goes way down, but output remains steady.

By definition, sharecroppers didn’t own the land they farmed.

True, but in the immediate aftermath of the war, nobody owned that land. In most cases, Massa and sons were dead, and widows just abandoned the plantations. Many blacks simply claimed it, and the Freeman’s Bureau acknowledged it, but Jim Crow by and by let carpetbaggers and scallywags steal it.

At that infamous meeting in the WH in Jan 2017, it was Biden who suggested using the Logan Act against General Flynn. And it was the famous Susan Rice last minute CYA memo on Trump’s Inauguration Day, January 20, 2017 stating that everything was “done by the book.”

This was a coup attempt straight out of the WH.

The results are in. First, whose painting belongs to who: First belongs to Kaitlyn. Second is Melissa’s, third, the beautiful red roofed house, is mine. Finally , the one on the far right belongs to Hunter

First place is Kaitlyn’s. Second is mine, Third is Hunter’s, who some say looks like a Howard Johnson. Thanks for being good sports and participating.

The 14th Amendment is the nuclear option. Reminds me of the Dems changing the rules on judicial confirmations. It doesn’t always work out the way they planned.
