The head of Russia's Wagner mercenary group said on Sunday that his forces had captured all the territory in the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut as promised and would leave the conflict zone later this week.
"Wagner has made no advances. Wagner today captured no territory. We have captured all the territory we promised to capture, right up to the last centimetre," Yevgeny Prigozhin said in an audio message posted on Telegram messaging app.
"As we stated yesterday. We are handing over our positions to (Russia's) Defence Ministry and on the 25th (of May) we are leaving the conflict zone."

Much of it , along with many Ukie soldiers are literally buried in the rubble when the buildings they were in collapsed. Much written about the buried defenders of Bakmut, Vlads glide bombs collapsed many huge buildings with one hit, you should watch some of that video- terrifying.
Wars are like that - parry, thrust, regroup and redeploy. Battles have troop movements and decisions both good and bad. You are intent on portraying the Ukraine losing this war as proof they are better than the Russians.
For their part, the Russians acknowledge the bravery of some of the Ukrainian troops. The Russians have lost many, just not the ridiculous number that the Ukrainians claim.
I could point out the failures of the Ukrainian army, but I thought losing the war was sufficient. Actually, it’s too often because they were untrained conscripts, very young or retirees, with little to no training in the weapons they were given, because most NATO’s best trained Ukrainian soldiers were killed early in the conflict.
Valor on both sides, skill on both sides. The Russians elected to use lesser trained militias for the grueling parts, and kept their army for strategic uses, later in the conflict.
It’s too complex - the troops rotating out with various skill levels, the Ukrainians conscripting young to old civilians etc.
Claiming the Ukrainians trained the Russians to be lethal is ridiculous and part of the ongoing Ukie propaganda effort. The Ukrainians suffered horrific losses early - but hey the truth doesn’t matter to those pushing Biden’s ‘narrative’.
Count the losses on each side.
Subtract the losses from the resources on each side.
Tour the damage to infrastructure in each country.
Count bullets and missiles deployed by each side.
Subtract those bullets and missiles from resources on each side.

That makes no sense. Not after suffering thousands dead and countless other injured or maimed. You don't fight so hard just to give it all up after claiming victory. It's a total lie that they had conquered and won. Prigo is trying to save face.
Well, there is always someone who can cast aside thousands of years of effective military tactics because “it makes no sense.” Carl von Clausewitz said, “the defensive form of warfare is intrinsically stronger than the offensive” hence you don’t need as capable troops to hold a territory.
Stalingrad had the Volga river at its rear and Bahmut has Chechen blocking troops with shoot to kill orders at its rear.

Wagner is an assault force, perhaps one of the world’s most experienced and competent urban warfare groups. Experienced in fighting under conditions no NATO country has.
Mission accomplished. Months and months of hellish conditions.
Time to rotate for rest.

Zelensky Confirms Loss of Bakhmut to Russia
