The emphasis on the imminent takeover by China sort of denies the whole premise of the article. China has been an empire for what a thousand years or more? Why haven’t they gone through the “six stages?”

Is China the exception that proofs/proves the rule? If China indeed succeeds by patience and the long view of life, can America adopt that long-term thinking a well? In time?

China has risen and fallen many times in the last seven thousand years. Dynasty-swapping was never an easy thing. Also, the Chinese have a different mind-set to being governed than Western cultures. Their harsh governments tended to cull the herd of revolutionaries leaving more subservience behind.

Don't get me wrong. The Chinese people can and do get pissed off in mass from time to time.
