Former President Donald Trump denied reports that U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors informed him he is facing an imminent indictment stemming from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into his handling of White House documents.
On Wednesday, Just the News’s John Solomon reported that federal prosecutors notified Trump that “He is a criminal target and likely to be indicted imminently in a probe into alleged classified documents.”
However, Trump told New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman that Solomon’s report was “not true.”
“Trump tells me minutes ago he has NOT been told he’s getting indicted, when contacted. ‘It’s not true,’ he said, adding again he hasn’t done anything wrong,” Haberman tweeted.
“When I asked if he had been told he’s a target, he demurred, saying he doesn’t talk directly to prosecutors,” she added.
Trump then publicly stated on Truth Social that no federal prosecutors had informed him of an imminent indictment.
Trump accused the special counsel’s case of being another example of election interference and urged congressional Republicans to prioritize this issue.
Trump wrote:
No one has told me I’m being indicted, and I shouldn’t be because I’ve done NOTHING wrong, but I have assumed for years that I am a Target of the WEAPONIZED DOJ & FBI, starting with the Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX, the “No Collusion” Mueller Report, Impeachment HOAX #1, Impeachment HOAX #2, the PERFECT Ukraine phone call, and various other SCAMS & WITCH HUNTS. A TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE & ELECTION INTERFERENCE AT A LEVEL NEVER SEEN BEFORE. REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS MUST MAKE THIS THEIR # 1 ISSUE!!!

And yet Trump himself implied a couple of days ago that he expects to be indicted soon, so it would seem something’s in the wind. Maybe it’s not official yet but something’s likely to occur over the next week or two.
Could be another show. Or could be half-truths. He’s being indicted, eventually, but not by these guys….

You can take the boy out of Queens, but you can’t take Queens out of the boy. In his mind, despite everything, the NYT is undoubtedly still the newspaper of record, so Trump treats them with a respect that they don’t deserve.
I wonder if these “leaks” are coming out in an attempt to get Trump to contact witnesses like Secret Service agents, Mark Meadows, etc. — so the DOJ can prosecute him for obstruction of justice.

The claim TODAY was Federal prosecutors HAVE notified Trump that he IS to be indicted.
This is false, nobody contacted him.
Maybe it will happen at some time, maybe a week or two from now, maybe it won’t, but RIF, reading/reporting is fundamental.
The palpable desperation in Pres Trump… The panic… all caps and shouting and screaming I think indicates what is really happening…(when an average American reads it not just in hermetic Freeperdom) And he maybe putting a brave face on it but he wouldn’t be losing his mud to this extent if they have not already indicated to him to get his affairs in order… My bet? By the end of next week.

He has lawyers. DOJ would not contact Trump directly.
Yea, they met, but Trump is saying that he and his lawyers have not been told directly what is benign reported today that he will be indicted next week. It was theoretical and possible but not definite as he media is saying now (probably being leaked by DOJ).
