Kevin McCarthy's fragile control over the House GOP looks shaky as hardline Republicans go into open REBELLION

The Washington Post reports that dissenting lawmakers are angry over a deal McCarthy struck with President Biden last week to raise the debt ceiling, claiming Republicans "got rolled" in the compromise.

The stalemate resulted in the House adjourning until next Monday and scrapping the remainder of the week's votes.

Lawmakers from both parties expressed frustration with the situation, the Post reported.

McCarthy blamed the conservative rebels for not specifying their demands. "There are a few members who aren't actually in the Freedom Caucus, and I'm not quite sure what they're concerned about," McCarthy said, according to Fox News.

For me that is a good reason to support the attacks. Levin, for all his good points, is a fickle ally who swings toward establishment views at critical times.

I never trusted CaveIn McCarthy in the first place. He needs to be shown the door ASAP. Maybe that will get the attention of some of our other Assistant DemocRATs. The Status Quo cannot be allowed to continue without some serious repercussions.

The Republicans seem to have many ways to fight each other but no idea how to fight Democrats

Rats and Rinos, the bottom rung on the dregs ladder.

Little late to go into rebellion. They voted for the “deal”, should have had the “rebillion” before the vote.

This looks like show biz for the voters back home: “Looky at us. We are really angry this time. We’ll show’em.”

It’s all smoke and mirrors guys. The only thing every single one of them is concerned about is being re-elected.

“The conservatives don’t even have a majority of the Republicans.”

They don’t, but they have enough power to have Manipulated the Speaker election, and won (sort of). That’s really all that matters.

McCarthy, you are on the wrong side of history.

Correct course immediately.

Even if a motion was made and voted on, they wouldn’t vote him out. Just more kabuki theater, the favorite show in down.

“He folded like a plastic walmart chair under Chris Christie”

Good analogy. Trump can use this in the future.

People here are operating under a misunderstanding.

A motion to vacate the chair has to carry the WHOLE HOUSE, not the Republican caucus.

This means it takes 218 votes to kick McCarthy out. Since having him there is good for the Democratic caucus, they can, if they want put 214 “no” votes on the board, on demand.

This also means that a motion to vacate, starting with 214 “no” votes, can only lose FOUR GOP members to the “no” side, when McCarthy probably has 190-200 core supporters.

On the flip side, four “conservatives” could join 214 Democrats to kick McCarthy out, easily. But what then?

Are there not four liberal Republicans who would prefer Jeffries to a conservative? Of course there are. There are probably 50+.

Yes please. I’m sure everyone could use a reminder. Perhaps we didn’t do a good enough job of flushing the rinos to out of the toilet bowl.

I helped organize and found my county’s Tea Party Patriots group, there were literally dozens of two faced bastards who took advantage of the local Tea Party groups to get elected. I don’t think they were even Republicans previously, let alone conservatives. One in Michigan comes to mind, I think he actually flipped to Democrat. Paul Ryan and Kevin McCarthy also got big political boosts from Tea Party groups.
