"The latest round of layoffs was the second over the past nine months and the fourth since a series of ownership changes began in 2015.

In September 2022, Disney removed six top editors from the magazine."

That is a shame. I didn’t realize it was in that bad of shape. This is one magazine that deserves to continue to be published.

National Geographic has been politically correct for decades.

It is sad to see this happen to what was an American icon.

Oh, well. NG had turned into nothing but climate-change propaganda anyway. Can’t say I’ll miss it.

National Geographic used to be a wonderful, family-friendly travel magazine about all kinds of interesting and exotic places around the world, but as of late it too has gone "woke."

My family canceled their subscription years ago, saying the Nat Geo had "changed" - yeah, no kidding!

Nice work, Disney. Killed a once respected magazine.

It went ultra-Green in the early 90’s - the science disappeared, replaced by non-stop alarmism over “fossil fuels” and climate change. It’s unfortunate, because I credit 60’s-70’s era National Geographic with making me an educated person. It did for me and many other young people what the school systems had no hope of doing, which is probably they killed it.

It used to be good. Now of course global warming and people are horrible are the major topics.

They went full on moron by printing a majority of articles around the global warming nonsense. They got real preachy, and folks got turned off. Had they just stuck to showcasing g the wo4lds wonders and different societies, Introducing people to societies around d the world which were Interesting and unique, they likely would, have held o to their base subscribers. I know our family stopped getting the magazine when they became relentlessly and tiresomely political

My dad used to subscribe to National Geographic and Scientific American when I was a kid. I loved reading both, and they helped inspire my interest in science, technology, travel, wildlife.

Neither magazine is worth a damn these days - NatGeo continues to feature some brilliant photography, but you can get equally brilliant photography elsewhere without the endless enviro-cultist indoctrination attempts. And Scientific American is a now a bad joke - there is very little science and a lot of left-wing propaganda.

The left did the same thing to Reader’s Digest years ago. And before that, the TV Guide. They know what they’re doing. They’re always marching forward. They have sedulously gone after all the organs of culture in their attempt to change America. The only thing they’ve accomplished is for the core culture to go underground and strengthen.

National Geographic is some what of a cerebral publication and, well, look around.

someone once said the earth will eventually stop spinning on its axis due to the accumulated weight of all the National Geographics piled up all over the world.

The mag turned into a rag decades ago when it became an organ for Climate Apocalypse ideology. Then they went on a crusade to tell us the dinosaurs were really chickens. They’ve been taken over by the Borg and NatGeo has actually been dead for a long time.

I lived in the city where the NG, Jet, Ebony, and several catalogs were printed and mailed out. When the Unions tried to insert themselves into the workforce there, the radical unionists sabotaged the efficient workings of the printing plant. So around 2001 the printing of the magazines and catalogs was moved overseas after several serious incidents. What was the largest printing plant in the US now sits empty.
