China simulates ‘Z-day’ total sea war with the US

China has just simulated a total war scenario at sea with the United States, an exercise that highlighted the People’s Liberation Army-Navy’s formidable challenges in a potential high-intensity conflict with an advanced, determined and highly-capable adversary.

South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that researchers from the PLA’s Unit 91404 recently added a “total war” scenario when testing and evaluating the performance of new weapons. Unit 91404 is responsible for the sea tests of some of China’s latest and most potent naval weapons.

The SCMP report notes that the researchers published their “Z-day” total war scenario in the peer-reviewed Chinese Journal of Ship Research last month. The report mentions that the researchers assumed that the Chinese military was under all-out attack by a hypothetical “blue alliance” with Arleigh Burke-class destroyers.

In the simulation, the PLA-N had nearly 50 destroyers, with each attacked with 11 missiles and more than three torpedoes coming from multiple directions.

The report also mentions the blue alliance generated jamming noises 30 times stronger than the signal PLA-N warships use for communication and that the detection range of Chinese radar was reduced to 60% below normal.

Those conditions destroyed almost a third of the Chinese destroyer’s air defense capabilities, with only half of their surface-to-air (SAM) missiles hitting their targets. Chinese naval experts who independently assessed the simulation results were quoted as saying the figures are “realistic.”

By highlighting weapon capabilities in doomsday scenarios, military forces can showcase readiness and deter potential adversaries from engaging in conflicts, researchers in the SCMP report said, with one saying that their paper is not intended to be viewed as a “horror movie.”

I still believe that the next “great” naval asset is going to be submarines with massive drone launch capabilities that can be controlled via satellite. Surface nearby, launch drone fleet, dive, and patrol.

> Every military does this.

Yep. I’m sure that there is some Major with an office deep in the bowels of the Pentagon tasked with developing a plan to respond to an Chinese occupation of Antarctica.

But what will America be in 2050 ? Look at how rapidly we’ve declined across the board since 1995 (except for population).

History will show the USA reached maximum stupidity under Biden.

Certainly when he wins a second term by 82 million votes.

“In the simulation, the PLA-N had nearly 50 destroyers, with each attacked with 11 missiles and more than three torpedoes coming from multiple directions.”

The PLAN will live a short, but exciting life in a full-on war at sea with the US/Japan.

Submarines may be effective in the deeper parts of the South China Sea, but I'd think the Taiwan Strait is too shallow for them. It is all less than 100 meters deep, and much is less than 50 meters.

“WWIII will be for aircraft carriers “

The principal role of the CVN against a peer adversary is to escort the fleet across the blue water ocean.

There is no substitute for the CVN in the open ocean. t in which Nothing else comes close.

It’s only when it4 approaches within about 500 miles of the shore that it become vulnerable.

So, you make an assertion on a subject you appear to not know much about.

There won’t be a shot fired.

No need.

The ChiComs do it the easy way these days.

They just buy a country’s pols.

They should make allowances for cross dressing sailors, drag queens squealing at the site of combat and other standard requirements for being in the US military.

right - but they could pop up on the east side of Taiwan for the drone launch while patrolling the gaps for ships trying to get through the straits.

These simulation scenarios are hilarious. One has the Gerald Ford at the head of some 7th Fleet suicide run towards one of the Chinese-held Spratlys or Nanshan. C'mon, Man.

The PLA is far more likely to attempt to blockade Taiwan and the Phillipines, the latter where they control all the intra-island transport lines. The Chinese tomorrow could simply stop all the ferry and freight service to all Pinoys and within 2 weeks they would be eating each other.

Then, in the CCP simp mandarin hivemind, it is a simple matter of handing back the Phillipines in exchange for Taiwan, in the classic confucian 'I stole it and not a thing you can do about it' mindset called 'saving face'.

You want to checkmate China? Eliminate the crucial part of the PLA's plan to blockade the Philippines as the crux of their Taiwan takeover strategy.

Force Manila to nationalize strategic Chinese assets like 2GO, the main Phillipine ferry service. Just punch China in its dirty godless confucian face early and often, and they will get the idea -- that is the one and only thing they understand.

Young Chinese adults in their twenties and thirties are giving up on life. They feel there is no future for them in China, they don't care for Communism, they don't want to die in some stupid war that doesn't benefit them and only would benefit the CCP.

Go to You Tube and see the videos.

They're an eye opener.

And the Chinese military? One word- sucks.

“We are importing a standing army.”

The Seattle area is full of Chinese. And many are VERY proud of China. They are buying up a lot of property in the area. I guess with a billion+ people you will have lots of wealthy ones, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the CCCP gives them the money to invest in the USA with some sort of economic disruption scheme in the long run.

You don’t want submarines surfacing anywhere. A sub anywhere near the surface is a sitting duck. Drones or other munitions can be conveyed on launch vehicles that are released silently and travel to where they are needed autonomously while the mother ship remains hidden far away.
