Crucified': Black Georgia state rep switches to Republican Party
American Thinker ^ | July 12, 2023 | David Zukerman

Mesha Mainor represents District 56 in the Georgia state House of Representatives. On July 11, Ms. Mainor announced that she was leaving the Democrat party to become a Republican member in the Georgia House. Here is part of her statement, quoted at Breitbart:

My name is Rep. Meisha Mainor and today I made the decision to leave the Democrat Party. I represent a blue district in the city of Atlanta so this wasn’t a political decision for me. It was a a MORAL one. I will NEVER apologize for being a black woman with a mind of my own. pic.twitter.com/q3snDGejCN

The Breitbart report said that Ms. Mainor felt "crucified" by her Democrat colleagues when she backed school choice and opposed defunding police. Here is another part of her announcement, quoted by Fox Digital:

"When I decided to stand up on behalf of disadvantaged children in support of school choice, my Democrat colleagues didn’t stand by me," Mainor explained of her decision in a statement to Fox News Digital. "They crucified me. When I decided to stand up in support of safe communities and refused to support efforts to defund the police, they didn’t back me. They abandoned me."

"For far too long, the Democrat Party has gotten away with using and abusing the black community," she added. "For decades, the Democrat Party has received the support of more than 90% of the black community. And what do we have to show for it? I represent a solidly blue district in the city of Atlanta. This isn’t a political decision for me. It’s a moral one."

...I focus on the key sentence, exalting individual liberty, in Ms. Mainor's declaration of separation from ...Democrats: "I will NEVER apologize for being a black woman with a mind of my own."

I represent a solidly blue district

She's switched parties based upon a few pet issues. But if she represented a "solidly" blue district, that means she was "solidly" blue, which means any other than her pet issues are going to be highly questionable.

Gun control. "Freedom" to practice homosexuality. Legal drugs. Etc.

Pardon me for not getting all misty at her proclamation. Yet.

Good for her. First step toward liberation of the black community.

She is correct. The oppression of Black U.S. citizens has always been done the the Dems. (Hee Haww! Hee Haww!) But it has never been done before by the Dem’s.

Unfortunately some of the GOP are lock step into the Globalist Communist takeover of the World.

In her last two elections, she ran unopposed. It will be interesting to see what happens, but I would expect it to be a tough fight for her to come back with another victory.

Agreed. I’ve seen too many RATs change parties over single issues, but they’re still liberals. Guns is a good example. Tons of libs switch over that issue but are still pro fag activists, etc.

So your thinking is that if they don’t go from being a Democrat to endorsing every single thing you care about, they are not worth supporting.

At some point, you need to understand that attempting to get everyone to agree with everything you think is counterproductive.

I support anyone who decides to leave the plantation. That is the major line that needs to be crossed. Everything else is just persuasion and discussion.

“Same feeling. Will she be just Nother rino who Wil. Sabotage conservative efforts?”

The fact is, she may only be reliable on 2 issues, but that’s 2 more issues than any other candidate who is likely to ever get elected in that district. Same argument holds true for “squishy” Republicans elected in a lot of suburban districts who may side more with the left on various issues.

Yes, we can reject them because they don’t match our ideological stance to our satisfaction, but if we do, we won’t get a staunch Republican in those districts, we’ll just get a Democrat instead.

Red pills take a while to work. Give it time. She already took one big step.

Kongrats. You’re a RINO and are applauding liberals into they fray. And, you’re part of the problem with FR.
