Pence cites (as part of the logic for supporting the war) an updated version of the domino theory used to justify the Vietnam war.
I would not have a problem with his rationale, if I believed the basic story that he is telling were true.
As I recall, Trump came to office, sold Dragon anti-tank missiles to the Ukraine, met Putin, and peace ensued. I think the war was scheduled to start after the election of Hillary Clinton. Trump’s election threw a monkey-wrench in the plans. These plans resumed with the election of Biden.
Putin’s story is that Nato expansion to include the Ukraine is a threat to Russia. The old Soviet Union always made such excuses. They could never have enough buffer states. There was Russia and 14 other Soviet states, plus 7 Warsaw Pact states. Now it’s just Russia, and Putin may feel threatened.
Democrats tend to pile on. Reagan took down the evil empire, despite the Democrats. Now Democrats can steal glory by defeating a Russia that does not compare to the Soviet Union either in evil or power.
It is very troubling that Trump made so many appointments that were proven horrible. Pence brought nothing to the campaign and nothing to the administration. When the chips were down, Pence proved that he was disloyal too. At his best he was boring and still a political negative.
Which was a hold over from the Korean War. In fact, I believe that it is a prerequisite to have that rallying cry tattooed on their left breast (under their American flag pin) to be granted Military Industrial Complex Campaign Money.
