A YES vote would increase the threshold from 50% to 60%

A NO vote would keep the threshold at 50%

They're trying to get Abortion enshrined into the Ohio Constitution in November.

This referendum, changing the approval threshold, would pretty much mitigate the Abortion November ballot measure.

Wow.

Read the fine print.

This isn’t, or isn’t just, about abortion.

November ballot item:

Ohio Right to Make Reproductive Decisions Including Abortion Initiative (2023)

Ohio Right to Make Reproductive Decisions Including Abortion Initiative

Election date -November 7, 2023

Topic -Abortion

Status - On the ballot
Type - Constitutional amendment

Origin -Citizens

The Ohio Right to Make Reproductive Decisions Including Abortion Initiative is on the ballot in Ohio as an initiated constitutional amendment on November 7, 2023.

A “yes” vote supports amending the Ohio Constitution to:

establish a state constitutional right to “make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions,” including decisions about abortion, contraception, fertility treatment, miscarriage care, and continuing pregnancy;

prohibit the state of Ohio from interfering with this constitutional right, except when the state demonstrates “that it is using the least restrictive means to advance the individual’s health in accordance with widely accepted and evidence-based standards of care;”

allow the state to restrict abortion after fetal viability, defined as “the point in a pregnancy when, in the professional judgment of the pregnant patient’s treating physician, the fetus has a significant likelihood of survival outside the uterus with reasonable measures;”

and prohibit the state of Ohio from banning abortion when, in the professional judgment of a physician, an abortion “is necessary to protect the pregnant patient’s life or health.”

A “no” vote opposes amending the Ohio Constitution to establish the constitutional right to “make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions.”

The Republican Establishment isn’t stupid. They just pretend to oppose the Democrats in exchange for their cut of the graft.

Good this is on the ballot this year or Ohio might be gone for 2024

The Ohio constitution has historically been too easy to amend. Since revision in 1855 there have been three added articles and 170 amendments. While this vote has been triggered as a defense against a pro abortion amendment, it remains true that the constitution should not be used merely as a repository of policy preferences. It should codify the structure and function of the constituted government body in question. A bar of 60% instead of 50%+1, serves this good purpose.

VOTING YES. My issue is the trainloads of money that out-of-state Anti-2A forces are lining up to try to overturn our Constitutional Carry law.

Always be ready to return to our roots.

If Issue 1 fails, the Sodomite and Jezebel driven mob in Ohio will come for all the unfashionable liberties....

I doubt then that few of us will die a peaceful death. Remember the codified COVID insanity?
They will come for us again.

They have lost SCOTUS and are slowly losing their “interpretive dance” constitutional law to the originalists.

They scamper now with their $$billions to the Red States for surprise attacks on Western Civ.

Always be ready to become a Dissenter.

“Dissenter
A dissenter is one who dissents in matters of opinion, belief, etc. Dissent may include political opposition to decrees, ideas or doctrines and it may include opposition to those things or the fiat of a government, political party or religion.”

Dissenters are historically chopped, burned, shot, skewered, crucified, etc for their unbending beliefs.

Do not bend.

Better to die on your feet than live on your knees....or worse.

When they come for you.....let them come.

But, that is just my opinion and I do not feel strongly about it.

Just received my copy of Farm & Dairy, regional ag weekly.

Front page headline: “Ag Groups Vocal in Support for Issue 1”

Encouraging. Many people don’t know that the largest industry in Ohio is farming. Farmers don’t like to be told how to farm by out-of-state do-gooders either.

Any indicators on how this one will go? Conservatives have got to do a better job voting in these off-year/special elections.
