Can you imagine the defense he would be getting if Trump wasn’t in the race?

He’s a political slut and he demonstrated that before he got into the Oval Office, fortunately. Republicans running for President can’t do that, with Trump Republicans. Trump Republicans are America First. The Democrats and GOP establishment insists on supporting political sluts and globalist idealogues. If President Trump were to pass away today, I doubt DeSantis could win the office, because of the disingenuity of being a political slut and its resulting divisiveness in the Republican Party.

I think the source of his problem is that he effectively became a presidential candidate before he even showed up for his first day on the job in his second term as Florida governor. This had two implications in the minds of many voters:

1. They recognized that his entire re-election campaign was a fraud, including everything he said on the campaign trail.

2. They questioned whether he really believed in anything he did as governor in his first term — or if it was all just political grandstanding.

I would agree that his non-commit to his term is hurting him. When you are a national politician, you have a brand. If your brand says, you will quit, people will not vote for you.

That’s a good point.

I’m not sure where I heard my version anymore...

This link isn’t where I heard my version, but is similar..

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-calls-ron-desantis-rob-in-press-release-2023-3?op=1

The truth is probably something in the middle... Brendon was pushing the name change, and Trump was looking for a different name to troll desantis with.

Either way, it’s meant to troll desantis

He never should have gotten in, in the first place.

This is President Trumps rightful place and battle against the enemy and he doesn't need a successful state governor to step out of the place he should be, to go someplace he shouldn't.

Desantis is either IN on it WITH Trump, or just an aggravating asshole.

“Rob DeSantis is imploding. Is it Rob? Or the people around him?”

It’s weird... I didn’t know his first name was Rob... wait a minute it’s Ron!

Hmmmm, does Ronnie have a brother?

I hate the people behind good reasons and, since DeSantis has become their patron, I hate DeSantis. Senator Cruz did the same thing in 2015.

He’s trying to pander to the establishment and not be ‘Trump’. Which is an innate problem - the people are thinking what Trump is saying. It’s a campaign flaw that isn’t fixable.

When I see how the DeSantis campaign has gone so completely off the rails, I can’t help but ask myself this question:

Did the GOP political and corporate establishment put DeSantis out there a candidate in 2024 to undermine Trump, or destroy DeSantis?

Both and Desantis fell for it big time.

I think the intention was to take both out, and put in the person they really wanted.

I wouldn’t say DeSantis “fell for” anything. The guy has been doing what he’s told for years, and probably hasn’t had an independent thought in his head since middle school.

“...and the only thing his advisors want is Trump out.”

I’m convinced of that too, which is why I feel sorry for him. He knew he was in over his head and simply hadn’t developed his own positions on issues, along with the skill to defend those positions. (hint: It takes decades, and you have to be a news junkie the whole time)

At the same time, money poured in to his campaign, so he figured the best bet was to hire the most pricey consultants. The problem with this strategy is that literally EVERY Republican consultant HATES Trump far more than they care about actually winning elections, since Republican consultants make more money when they lose rather than win (since losing makes the big money types DESPERATE to change things in the country).

He went on to accomplish more for America in one four year term than any President in their lifetime...

Four years fraught with impeachments, constant attacks by the media, every pundit, and every other politician. And he still accomplished so much for us! Just imagine what he could accomplish with Congress on the same page!!
