I’ve been a registered Republican since 1979.

This is embarrassing.

Closing statements (my opinions):

Burgum: Shaky. Not special.

Hutchinson: Called for new leadership. Not special.

Scott: Really good.

Christie: Talks about how he beat a Democrat incumbent. Okay.

Haley: Husband in the military. Decent, but not overly great.

Pence: Talks about proven leadership. Fairly solid, but old news.

Ramaswamy: Common ideals. Recital of conservative points. Rather good.

DeSantis: Pretty decent.

That Hindu fraud is talking about God as if he has the same one, and that there are two genders even though he supports transgenders in the military.

IMHO Ramas had bad speaking delivery and seemed immature by interrupting others. But he might have been the best tonight at showing no hesitation for answering most issues (ie the only one raising his hand to stop money to Ukraine) also best at bringing up topics we most wanted to hear. Even though I believe he hurt his chances more than helped them, he at least provided us a service of keeping the debate centered on the issues.

“A real leader would have shown up and said “I’m back!”

He just did, and a record number watched as Tucker Carlson interviewed him.

Sounds like you missed the bus.

His grasp of US history is not too strong if he thinks we had a Constitution when we were fighting the Revolutionary War.

Christie: Talks about how he beat a Democrat incumbent.

Then insured that another Republican will never win in New Jersey again.

Wow, DeSantis kept his closing under the allotted 45 seconds, perfect statement. Good wrap-up to this fantastic debate.

Everyone, enjoyed the debate conversation! I'm going to take a short break then settle in for Tucker's interview. Maybe I'll see you on that thread next.

DeSantis’ closer was good with his military service and even a slight Trump sounding promises kept vibe on his governor track record.

If I read a transcript of the debate, I would say Vivek won in terms of what was said. But his presentation detracts from the message.

Recap, not that it is all over (similar to a previous comment):

DeSantis was the clear winner. Scott will easily survive and move on. Haley did good except for her response to the abortion question. Christie and Pence will survive, but didn’t have a breakout evening. Ramaswamy may be liked by some, but didn’t endear himself to many. Hutchinson and Burgum were background noise.
