I'm pretty sure that the Russians have been going to space for decades at a fraction of the cost that the US has incurred.

The Soviet/Russian space program never had the glitz or the glamour that ours did, but at the end of the day, theirs is still standing.

Chinese are the 2nd only to SpaceX and then there’s ula.

The Russians are so broke they are getting to be unable to keep MAD going with sensors. Russia is a pathetic loser lost cause

Depends what you mean by "going to space" ...

Low-Earth orbit, yes

Moon missions - no

Planetary Missions - no (every one of the 10 Soviet missions to Mars failed)

Deep-Space missions - no (Russia has no heavy-launch capacity, unlike the US and Europe)
