Loaf of bread $4.99 at Shop Rite last week. And that was a cheaper brand

Beans and flour in 50# bags. Salt pork and pork belly. Grow everything I can. Pickle all excess crops. Four chickens.

I have not bought bread at a store for years. I bake pita bread pockets, baguettes, bagels, crackers, and sliced bread. Gotta have good spices and good yeast, which Amazon handles for me. I do subscribe to one 5# bag of coffee beans every month.

A 50# bag of King Arthur, Sir Gallahad high gluten flour (The best) costs about $60. We bake / use 300 grams per day. That comes to around a 100 day supply. So bread costs me around 60 cents. And that's the good stuff.

Every now and then a reminder to see how little you really need, vs. What you think you want, is a good exercise to take on.

I just finished planting all my winter crops. Radishes and Kohlrabi can be fit in between and in all the shrubs and annuals beds. Swiss Chard goes out front to look pretty. Collard greens go in my perennial flower beds as those dry up in fall. Spinach and lettuce goes into all the potted flowers that are dying back. Just amend the potting soil with some fresh compost.

Fresh veggies right into January.

Bread keeps going up and the loaves keep getting smaller.
