During an interview airing on CBS Evening News, Florida’s Governor was blunt about former President Donald Trump’s chances — or lack thereof — of winning the presidency if convicted in any of his upcoming trials.
“I think the chance of getting elected President after being convicted of a felony is as close to zero as you can get,” said Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“I didn’t think even before all this, that the former President should have run again. I mean, I think that there’s too many voters (for whom) he’s a deal breaker for them,” DeSantis told Norah O’Donnell.
The comments are the latest example of a Governor who has become more confident in making the case that Trump should not have run for another term given his various legal problems.
“Well, look, I never thought he should run to begin with, even before all these legal cases when he left office in January of 2021,” DeSantis said in August on Boston’s WBZ NewsRadio.
“I think he did a lot of good things, and I give him credit for that,” DeSantis added. “But I never thought it was a good idea for him to run again, because, one, I think we need a candidate who’s going to be able to win a clear-cut victory; two, we need a candidate that’s actually going to be able to deliver on all the things that we’ve been talking about, (and) that requires focus and discipline.”

And that’s the stupidity of what’s going on with us on the right. That we are more concerned about loyalty to a candidate than winning elections. If there was a concentration on getting conservatives elected, we could pass statewide voting reforms that protect and reinforce honest elections, we could close the borders, deport & build a permanent barrier, we could get conservatives seated on courts, etc. If you don’t win elections or worry about loyalty to a candidate as our first priority we help elect and end up ruled by leftists

You RINO’s don’t give up do you...unless Trump is not on the ballet he will defeat Desantis for the nomination...there is no argument that you are going to make to change this. I consider myself logical...what is up with you RINO’s is it hard to comprehend Desantis and the other pygmies have been rejected by GOP primary electorate...until Trump is physically not on the ballet no matter his location(prison, deep outer space ha ha ha) they cannot not win.

Agree, the way to tell the people who prefer a Democrat president to Trump is very easy - they are working against Trump. It happened in 2016 and 20220 and is happening again. Pretty much any time they say “Trump cannot win” they really mean “I’ll take any Democrat over Trump”, since they know that will be the case.
Ron really stumbled here by legitimizing these political indictments, even if only implicitly. All he needed to do was use this cycle to improve his national name recognition, get more experience on the stump and be a viable plan B if Trumps health failed, or to be the nominee next time around.
This will boomerang on him, bigly, and it’s going to be almost impossible for him to repair his standing with the populist wing of the base.

There is no viable alternative to Trump running...all these other candidates are RINO’s more of the same i.e. Ukraine...basically RINO’s...even Burgum is parroting the Ukraine talking points. Vivek is not viable...some GOP will simply not vote for him i.e. 50% he can’t win GOP nomination.
If it matters at all, it will only matter in the primaries. A convicted Trump will be a martyr and if he wins the nomination, that will make a big difference in the general from other elections where less was at stake.
Use your brain. Every time Trump was indicted by banana Republic democrat prosecutor, his poll numbers jumped up. If he is put in prison, it will be landslide of 1984 proportions. People are wise to what Biden & his henchmen are doing.
And if it works the country is done. As you’ve known it your kids will NEVER know it. Make your choice because at this point, Trump supporters aren’t going with Desanctimonius, Scott, Haley or Vivek. Btw, if at any point the most popular politician in the country is screwed away from being a part od the election...see above.
And if Ron DeSantis keeps this up, he won’t be able to be elected dog catcher in Florida in any future election.
