She looked extremely frail and skeletal at the end - and yet she and/or her family insisted on hanging on the power until she died. Being a US senator must be absolutely amazing - Fetterman, Feinstein, McConnell - they are all obviously physically incapable but they won’t let go and their families won’t make them let go.
all these seats are royalty, a license to become a multi millionaie. Many are incapacitated, even Biden as President.
The bottom line, they live in DC. That’s where their family is, that’s where their friends are, that’s where their entire life is. They have no connection to so their supposed home state. That’s why they never quit. Also, usually their entire family has various forms of bribery jobs that count on them being in office.
Playing devil’s advocate here - perhaps it was to keep her on the Senate healthcare plan. Due to the healthcare prices that she helped drive up, she or her family may not have wanted to get stuck with the bills if she retired.
Political power is control - Feinstein was all about control as all Demorats covet. She would never walk away from that as her years of holding onto that control have shown.
