Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) urges his fellow Republicans in the House to get rid of the rule that allows a single member to file a motion to vacate the chair, saying it makes the speaker's job "near impossible." He also says he hopes the Senate will move forward with regular order on remaining appropriations bills ahead of the mid-November government funding deadline.

I remember when that idiot Ryan demanded no Motion to Vacate as a condition of his accepting the speakership. Would have been easy to say, “Okay, then step aside,” but the idiot GOP agreed.

Now that Gaetz got his fame at ‘overthrowing the speaker’ will he have the guts to run for the speakership himself. And make the pledge that if he is not elected he will immediately resign as a member of congress? I doubt it.
