House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that “informal conversations” are taking place for a bipartisan solution to the House speakership.
Jeffries concluded, “We want to ensure that votes are taken on bills that have substantial Democratic support and substantial Republican support so that the extremists aren’t able to dictate the agenda.”

I think the bipartisan plan is to elevate Jeffries to House Speaker. HE will then reneg on any deal with Repubs. Repubs NEVER LEARN!!!
So, the Democrats are afraid that Jordan will be a force for good.
As Rush often comments, the democRAT version of bipartisanship is to always vote like a democRAT. Any Republican who ‘reaches across the isle’ is celebrated (for a moment) as the great compromiser. Any democRAT who reaches across the isle and votes with the Republicans has his hand, and especially his campaign funding, chopped off.
This week in particular I'm reminded that "Hakeem" is neither a Christian, nor Jewish, nor African name.
I'm against anything he's for, including Islam, corruption in D.C., and murdering babies.
If republicans vote with democrats to elect a democrat speaker, I guarantee those republicans better start packing to move home permanently.
Bipartisan solution - squishy RINO.
Thank Matt Gaetz for all of this. It USED to be that the Speaker was determined by a majority vote in the majority caucus. NOW anyone losing the caucus vote is going to block the winner from ascending.
I don’t think the Democrats expect to make Jeffries but to get a Republican speaker who owes them favors.
That’s it. Let Hakeem Skyhook Jeffries run the show.
>> I think the bipartisan plan is to elevate Jeffries to House Speaker
That would require vindictive RINOs.
—”I think the bipartisan plan is to elevate Jeffries to House Speaker.”
Yes, it is.
Brought to you by That great conservative Rep Gatez
When the gavel is handed to the incoming speaker Hakeem, Gatez will be so happy.
It must have been a dem/rus blackmail team that made Gatez do it.
Or was it hypovolemic shock induced by his paid honey pot, and low blood flow to his brain?
Cui bono?
The democrats, in the minority, are calling for a “bipartisan” solution? They must have learned that generosity from Nancy Pelosi. Waiting to see how many Republicans will gently sigh, “Oh, gosh, we are just brothers. Why not?”
This happened in California back in the mid 1990s. The Republicans had actually won a majority in the legislature, but the Democrats made a deal to vote for a Republican Assembly Speaker, who then did their bidding in exchange.
“Thank Matt Gaetz for all of this.”
Yes he is. He said this would flush out the uniparty members in the Republican caucus.
Don’t get too upset. McCarthy was the democrats’ bitch, so not too much will change.
“...so that the extremists aren’t able to dictate the agenda.” Said Congress’ most extreme extremist.
But we’ve been hearing how McCarthy was too liberal. And many on Free Republic were happy that Gaetz triggered this action to vacate the speakers seat
So now we are supposed to think that was a bad idea? But then what about all the bitching about how McCarthy was too liberal, and didn’t keep budget promises and all that? We just forget everything that led up to all of this? Are we saying we would rather McCarthy still be speaker in spite of all of his shortcomings?
Yes, it did. Only the Republicans didn't win the majority in the whole legislature. They won it in the Assembly for the first time in many years. And what did they do with their win? They squabbled over the speaker between "true conservatives" and "moderates" instead of consolidating and building on their important win. The result: They lost the majority in the next election and never got it back. Instead, the Dems got stronger and stronger every election until now there is no hope for California anymore.
When Gaetz did what he did, I immediately thought of what happened in California. Hopefully the outcome won't be the same nationally as it was there.
yeah I notice that Jeffries has not said a peep about the Jew haters in his own party
