Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is upping the ante regarding Hamas sympathizers in the United States, saying that foreign college students who support the militant organization should have their visas revoked.
Following the October 7 attacks that killed hundreds of Israelis in the biggest act of aggression on its soil on decades, some Americans at institutions of higher learning expressed support for Hamas—a terrorist organization as designated by the United States government.
Nearly 3,000 people have been killed in Gaza as of Wednesday, the Associated Press reported. More than 1,400 people have been killed in Israel. Another roughly 10,900 people have been wounded or buried underneath rubble, dead or alive.
"It raises a larger issue: What the hell is going on in American universities nowadays?" DeSantis said on The Megyn Kelly Show. "This would not have happened during World War II when the Japanese attacked us. You would not have seen—you did not see—student groups going out there and celebrating that. Remember, Americans were massacred, too. It wasn't just Israelis, and Americans are still being held hostage as well as Israelis."
"Any of those students who are here on visas, those visas should be canceled, and they should be repatriated back to their home country. That's a no-brainer. Why would we welcome people into this country who are totally hostile to basic American decency and values?"
"If you look at what they did, what the Hamas terrorists did—as bad as Al-Queda and ISIS in some of their worst moments—I think this has even reached a new low," DeSantis told Kelly. "The idea that you would go out and celebrate that as a good thing, that is absolutely the type of person that you should not want to hire. I would not hire any of those people who were doing that."

There is no pretzel you won't twist yourself into to oppose anything DeSantis does.
It's quite sad, really.
Isn’t it though?
Disgusting, too
“Everyone has a right to be wrong and stupid.
But not seditious.
sedition /sĭ-dĭsh′ən/
noun
Conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of a state.
Insurrection; rebellion.
A factious commotion in a state; the stirring up of such a commotion; incitement of discontent against government and disturbance of public tranquility, as by inflammatory speeches or writings, or acts or language tending to breach of public order: as, to stir up a sedition; a speech or pamphlet, abounding in sedition.
“Why would we want to continue to give special privileges to them?”
Free speech is a RIGHT not a privilege. This isn’t the first time DeSantis has shown fascist tendencies.
Your attempted defense of Hamas is beneath contempt.
They are enemies of humanity if they refuse to adhere to the international treaties on the rules of war.

I remember when this place was a conservative forum and here you've got people saying the exact same things about Ron DeSantis that they're saying over at the Daily Kos or DU.
It's shameful.
It’s sure gone downhill since I got here in 2004
All of the sites that have closed their comment section has drawn them here
Hard to find sites any more with intelligent banter
DO IT YESTERDAY!
If trump had said that you’d be the first in line to thank him
Desantis knows the truth about these people
I want them all out
According to 8 U.S. Code Subchapter V - ALIEN TERRORIST REMOVAL PROCEDURES via § 1531 and 8 U.S. Code § 1182 - Inadmissible aliens and 8 U.S. Code § 1227 - Deportable aliens - (a)(4)(b), endorsing or espousing terrorist activities or persuading others to endorse or espouse terrorist activity or support a terrorist organization is a deportable offense.
The question is whether or not you believe that student groups who organize rallies or encourage others to attend rallies in support of the Hamas attacks against Israeli civilians is a form of endorsing or espousing terrorist activity or terrorist groups and if those students who attend those rallies are also endorsing or espousing terrorist activities or groups.
If you do believe that, then deporting them under 8 U.S. Code § 1182 is legal.
See:
8 U.S. Code Chapter 12 - IMMIGRATION AND NATIONALITY

While this is true, this could become a precedent for the unintended.
For example, what about an Israeli also on a visa expressing similar objections to his/her Biblical adversary? Certainly there’s no moral equivalence in this case, but it could give an anti-Semitic university the justification for expelling the Jew by simply citing the above.
This reminds me of the legislative attempts to ban Sharia a few years ago. While the non-existence of Sharia is preferable within our borders, such a ban would most certainly have unintended consequences.
Yeah, there are a lot of "devil's advocates" around these days. Like Trump never pushed the "Muslim ban" or something.
Works for me!
Nothing will be done to protestors. Which proves your post is not applicable to peaceful protests.
I only had to prove that what you posted was wrong, that there are laws on the books (that you said applied to people on student visas) against endorsing or espousing terrorist activities and organizations. I can't promise that the law will be enforced, but that doesn't nullify the post.
There is no right to "Peaceful protests" in the Constitution.
There is a first amendment right to peaceably assemble and the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances. What grievances against our government were these students petitioning? It was Hamas that attacked an Israeli music festival. What is the US government petition of grievances here?
Those weren't "protests to petition the government," they were support rallies for Hamas and the Palestinians. Please show me the "peaceful endorsing and espousing of terrorist groups" exception in the U.S. code.

Protests are expanding. So your post has wrong information.
If protests were illegal, why are they expanding?
You know the old saying about assumptions? Plus, I’ll not take anything seriously coming from a fuggin Bush supporter.
crime for speech or actions...
that is the rub...
t
who deems what is seditious?
Black Lives Matter is a Seditious political construct created to provide the illusion of unity and to destroy Donald Trump by glorying the greatness of being Black
