Sen. Mike Lee, other GOP senators propose a standalone bill for Israel aid, without Ukraine funding

A group of Republican senators introduced a bill Thursday that would decouple funding for Israel from billions of additional dollars the White House requested for Ukraine.

The Israel Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2023 was introduced by Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio and Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas.

“Ukraine and Israel are distinct, important issues, and Congress should have the opportunity to consider and vote on prospective aid packages individually,” Lee said in a press release.

“If the Biden administration’s case for additional Ukraine aid is not strong enough to stand on its own, then packaging them is an insulting request to lay before Congress. It is unreasonable for the administration to exploit an aid package for Israel to siphon off billions of taxpayer dollars in yet another blank check for Ukraine,” he said.

will fight this like the Dems they really are.

Many are Ds and NeverTrumps. They have no political Party, but rather they fight for funding for issues that in turn make them money.

I’m all for supporting Israel, but we just gave them billions of dollars at the beginning of October. I prefer we work on our own borders right now.

In May 2022, Speaker Mike Johnson said, “We should not be sending tax
dollars abroad without sufficient oversight over where the money will go,
<><>when our own border is in chaos,
<><>American mothers are struggling to find baby formula,
<><>gas prices are at record highs,
<><>and American families are struggling to make ends meet.”

Backstory: Since 1973, Israel has received more than $120 billion US tax
dollars in MILITARY assistance alone, including “three special aid” packages.
<><>billions for signing the Israel-Egypt peace treaty
<><>billions for Israel’s withdrawal from the Sinai.
<><>billions for redeployment of Israeli forces
<><>rebuilding Israeli air bases in the Negev cost $5 billion.

Not content w/ the mega billions already in his pocket, Zelensky now says
he wants US tax dollars to Ukraine according to the Israeli model......here’s what he means:

Congressional Research Service
US Foreign aid to Israel
60 page detailed report

https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/RL/RL33222/44

The concerned Israeli lobby made sure Congress is required by law to ensure that U.S. military aid in the Middle East region doesn’t damage Israel’s military superiority over its neighbors. That requirement enjoys broad bipartisan support and has served as a benchmark for ensuring Israel receives robust U.S. support.

Biden keeps gaslighting Americans about the “need” for
American foreign aid tax dollars to Ukraine and Israel.

Here’s why they DONT need it:

About $113.1 billion in tax dollars were authorized in 2022 for Ukraine, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. Most of it–about $67.1 billion–was defense-related. The other $46 billion included:
<><>$26.9 billion for economic support;
<><>$7.9 billion for international disaster assistance;
<><>$6.6 billion in assistance for refugees;
<><>$1.5 billion for assistance for Europe, Eurasia and Central Asia;
<><>plus $3.1 billion for other non-defense spending.

US tax dollars helped Ukraine
<><>pay the salaries of 618,000 educators, 517,000 health workers, and 56,500 first responders
<><>helped sustain critical healthcare services,
<><>helped meet pension responsibilities for 9.8 million people,
<><>assisted 1.3 million internally displaced persons,
<><>provided housing assistance to 4.1 million people,
<><>provided social assistance to 240,000 low-income families
<><>helped subsidize 480,000 persons with disabilities,
<><>bought supplies for farmers,
<><>financed finding markets for small business.

Israel’s defense budget ALONE is about $25 billion per year.....nearly as large as the entire GDP of Gaza, according to the CIA World Factbook. So what passes for an economy in shambles in Gaza is less than 5% the size of Israels booming, technologically advanced, and robust $550 billion national economy.

Israel is an economic and military Goliath relative to the Gaza/Hamas terrorist Tom Thumbs. They do not need any virtue signaling from Biden but he is one of a slew of obeisant US politicians each trying to outdo the other in showing fealty to a foreign govt.

Why do we have to go into debt for these money grubbing foreign billionaires?
Monies generations not yet born are saddled with.
Why cant they stand on their own two feet?
Why cant they do their own borrowing?
Why cant they finance their own security?

Those good jobs Americans in Texas have exporting energy to Europe are certainly “dead meat” once the priority becomes Making Russia Great Again. The WEF EU will happy to partner with Putin again and rebuild his army and economy. Marxist Democrats will continue partnering with Putin to nuke up Iran and attack Israel.

American populism is certainly ideologically and morally bankrupt “dead meat, hanging” but its vapid adherents are “not even smart enough to know it.” Apparently, they’re not tired of losing just yet.

Good for them (and us).

Part of the problem here is the Israeli defense plan includes access to the military equipment the US has stockpiled there for resupply; this plan was developed with the full participation and approval of the US government. Biden’s Pentagon has depleted those stockpiles, sending much of the reserves to the Ukraine. Ergo, the need for money to replace those stockpiles as quickly as possible.

How about no foreign aid at all (to any country, including Israel) until we have paid down a few trillion dollars of our debt and start running budget surpluses or at least balanced budgets? Enough foreign welfare and meddling and foreign conflicts. Let’s close our borders, deport those who came in illegally, pay down the debt, and rebuild our own military.

“Biden’s Pentagon has depleted those stockpiles, sending much of the reserves to the Ukraine. Ergo, the need for money to replace those stockpiles as quickly as possible.”

There’s not a single thing Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Biden have done that hasn’t created chaos and instability, civil war, the death of millions and millions of people worldwide.

We won’t pay down any of that debt in my lifetime

We can’t even slow it down these days with a slight majority in one House

I thought all spending bills had to originate in the House.

That was announced in January. I wonder if any of it is left ?

Ukrainians have certainly won. They’ll proven they’ll fight for their sovereignty no matter the odds. Ukrainians would rather die in their feet than live on their knees as Kremlin slaves ever again.

Democrats are going to throw President Trump in jail for life. No keyboard warrior populist is going to a thing about it and you know it. Are we tired of winning, yet?

Sen. Mike Lee, other GOP senators propose a standalone bill for Israel aid, without Ukraine funding because its is preferable, once Russia takes Ukraine and moves on NATO countries, American troops die fighting Russians. A much better outcome than letting the Ukrainians have all the fun.
