Democrats sweep Virginia legislature in blow to Gov. Glenn Youngkin

Democrats in Virginia on Tuesday night retained their majority in the state Senate — a blow to Republicans who were hoping to achieve total control of the state legislature and boost Gov. Glenn Youngkin in his final two years in office.

The GOP also lost control of Virginia’s House of Delegates, with Democrats set to win at least 51 seats in the 100-member lower chamber.

DC/NOVA ate Virginia long ago. How many people were saying there was hope for Virginia after Youngkin won. I never bought it.

Virginia is a blue state, period, end of discussion. I has been permanently flipped. The home of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson deserves better.

This makes me seriously furious, but it is what it is. If only DC had been put in Maryland, next to Pennsylvania.

When will she get fired? Didn’t she just get overwhelmingly reelected as Republican chairwoman? And didn’t Trump endorse her for the job?

“It’s a state issue.”

And it had a big effect on the state of VA.
It was the VA legislature that went to the Dems.

“The abortion battle needs to be fought on a different battlefield.”

And that battlefield as you said, is the state. What other battlefield is going to make laws for the state?

And you may have noticed, Cameron is McConnell’s protege. Is that a good thing in the minds of voters?

I am talking more about winning hearts and minds on the issue as opposed to trying to legislate morality.

Trump is the only one who can overcome the fraud and win.

Trump hasn't won anything since 2016. He's been a drain on the party ever since.

The only person rural folks are going to bother to go out and vote for is President Trump. Every other candidate will get smashed.

What good is it if Trump can get himself elected but everyone else with an (R) after their name loses?

What do you think a lame-duck Trump Administration is going to look like in 2025 when the Democrats control the House, Senate, and a whole slew of statehouses and state legislatures?

Do you think there's gonna be much "swamp draining" taking place?

It means he never mentioned the America First concept of Maga.

It means he never once mentioned he supported what President Trump supported.

It means he was an establishment Republican whose history is a little bleak in the beliefs of a Strong America.

I could go on....

So true. Everything is relative now, including where one finds themselves on the societal value pole.

Trump has simply brought the GOP right back to where it was before he came along.

“Trump drives the Democrats to vote. He is the best weapon Democrats have.”

Trump is the most effective Democrat GOTV campaign in history

Republicans have had since 2020 to fix fraud and have done zip.
************************************************************
DeSantis fixed it in Florida, but that’s what proven leaders do.

Trump didn't even publicly endorse the Republican until several days before the election -- and it was a muted endorsement at best. Trump knew damn well that the guy was going to lose ... and as I've posted here many times in the past, Trump simply does not like to endorse losers even if they are perfect MAGA candidates.

Reading is hard

Just look at what Trump surrogate and freak of nature Laura Loomer was pushing in Virginia:

Addition? You’ve added plenty of supporters to the pro choice position. Trump doesnt have 3 losses, you just attribute every loss to Trump and everyone win to anybody but Trump. Was Trump the reason for Ohio supporting abortion?

The 2024 election isn’t about electing anyone anymore, it is about which side thinks the other is more illegitimate.

Government stooges are so confident in their actions that at this stage, if their vote fraud fails, they will simply refuse to certify the election.

All their actions are screaming this. They have power and are confident in their propaganda efforts.

They will simply overrule the election
Then the question will be if the People accept that action.

It means he never mentioned the America First concept of Maga. It means he never once mentioned he supported what President Trump supported.

It also means that he won in a state that Trump lost badly twice. I live in VA and have been heavily involved in its politics. Youngkin is solid and overwhelmingly very well regarded by conservatives here.

It means he wasn't sufficiently worshipful of Donald Trump.

Youngkin had the good fortune to run for governor of Virginia in 2021 when Trump was still licking his wounds in Mar a Lago over his failed 2020 presidential campaign and had not announced he was running yet again
