Reserve officers in the IDF sounded the alarm over a collection of reports recently accumulated on disciplinary issues among Israeli soldiers in Gaza, which may lead to "serious incidents" in the Gaza Strip and endanger Israeli forces in the face of Hamas threats, they argued.
Among the alarming reports, a testimony of a tank commander claimed he observed soldiers playing soccer, swimming in the waters of Gazan beaches, spraying graffiti inscriptions on the walls of Palestinian houses, and planting trees brought from Israel.
Also, some unusual political statements by soldiers were recorded on social networks. One veteran in the IDF reserves told Walla! of one case in which he witnessed the arrival of fuel tanks deep in Gaza.
"A message was received about heavy vehicles (armored personnel carriers, tanks, bulldozers) engaging in a competition to see who will arrive at their destination first. There is no order. There is always one driver who wants to arrive first, or someone who bypasses the line, and then there is tension between them.

These are internal matters, and should be taken care of
through proper channels.
Airing this in public certainly doesn’t help.
True. But we can’t hide anything anymore due to social media.
Hmmmmm! Pointers from our joint chiefs?
Israeli defense and intelligence services have been publicly trying to overthrow the Netanyahu government. Internal discipline was lost long before the last few months.
One must always remember that the Jerusalem Post is the Israeli equal of the New York Times with this exception. The Jerusalem Post twists the news but does not lie. They twist the news to reflect their politics as does the New York Times. However, the New York Times prints blatant lies their editors know are lies.
Oh gee, Israeli soldiers taking a swim. How undisciplined /sarc
I see the IDF just like the U.S. military. They're woke. So they have some problems with discipline. But their readiness is probably much better than ours. They live in a hostile neighborhood. So they can't afford to make mistakes. But their air force is carrying them all the way.
Silly article, combat soldiers are going to blow off steam. My Dad was a tank commander in WWII. His crew found an abandoned German motorcycle with a side car. They cut the side car off and had a hot rod. They carried it around on the tank and rode when “off”. One the guys dumped it and broke his arm. A higher-up made them trash it. Everyday stuff.
“Planting trees” ???
Yes, the Biblical imagery is overwhelming, but, seriously?
“...planting trees...”
-
Oh, the horror!
Graffiti, swimming, playing soccer, yes very woke /sarc
Could be listening device trees
FWIW, we have this problem in the U.S. military. I don't care as long as you shut up about it.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS ONE ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Sounds to me like “concern trolling” on the part of someone. Not sure who the someone is, but the anti-Netanyahu government elite (roughly a proxy for the Israeli Left) is a logical suspect.
Planting.
Trees.
>> I don’t care as long as you shut up about it.
Well, *I* care about it! Faggotry and other sexual perversion corrupts nation-states, to their detriment and downfall — and that includes corrupting the United States populus that comprises our military. Or do you not believe that a morally and physically strong military are vital to our national interest?
No doubt that kind of thing exists in armies that kind of reflect their society’s behaviours. I just don’t get how you equate the things mentioned like playing soccer with wokeism. I could understand if Israeli’s unfurled a rainbow flag over Shifa hospital or did a gay parade down some gaza goat track or something. Or heaven forbid, took a knee to some hamas savage and begged for forgiveness. But swimming. Soccer. No way jose
The majority of the IDF soldiers deployed to Gaza are young reservists who have been suddenly plucked from their Western centric lives. They are now in the bizarre, absurd, surreal horrific combat that is creating stresses, anxieties, fears and other complex emotions. They personally face the prospect of sudden death, maiming and are witnessing this and other unimaginable sights. Young soldiers in war have behaved in this manner throughout history. It will be even worse for some of them afterwards when they try to resume their lives.
No doubt it is difficult for regular, career officers to maintain discipline and prevent risky behavior while still getting the mission accomplished. The last time the US was involved in a prolonged, grueling fight (Vietnam), many young, recently civilian, American soldiers behaved in a similar manner.
