Paris (AFP) – The world may cross the crucial 1.5C global warming threshold in seven years as fossil fuel CO2 emissions continue to rise, scientists warned Tuesday, urging countries at the COP28 talks to "act now" on coal, oil and gas pollution.
Battle lines are being drawn over the future of fossil fuels at the UN climate summit in Dubai, with big polluters trying to see off calls for an agreement to phase out the carbon-intensive energy responsible for most of human-caused greenhouse gas.

As everybody knows from elementary school, the world has been warming for 20,000 years. Do they want to take us back to the ice age?

Why aren’t India and China sharing the concern? Their CO2 output has eclipsed that of the USA and Western Europe.
I believe that the earth has exceeded that so-called “threshold” for many millions of years during some of earth life’s most prolifigate times. Where did that silly 1.6 C come from? Remember, climate sciences get their grants from governments. Governments composed of folks who struggled to get a D in their “Science for Poets” classes.
