EXCLUSIVE: US Coast Guard ordered to allow 'ceasefire' agitators to shut down Seattle bridge, snarling traffic for hours

It has been revealed that Seattle law enforcement personnel had been ordered to allow anti-Israel demonstrators to seize control of a major bridge during rush hour traffic on Thursday evening.

In addition, the United States Coast Guard had reportedly agreed to hold boat traffic ahead of the demonstration. The activists shut down the drawbridge for more than 3 hours, which caused significant traffic delays with miles-long backups.

Recently, the entire (maybe just half?) Seattle City Council was replaced by "Conservative" Leftists.

The local population is disgruntled with rising crime, homeless sidewalk tent people, and out of control spending.

The new guys are working out exactly as expected!

People see roads and bridges being blocked as an inconvenience, “snarling traffic” but it is so much more serious than that.
= = =

As I recall, a mass of people on a bridge can be more of a load than vehicles, spaced, passing over.

Didn’t the Golden Gate have a problem with too many people, during a celebration of some sort.

And I have been told that soldiers, martching over a bridge, break step to stop any ‘frequency induced’ forces.

I’ll bet that a bunch of people, gathered on a bridge, and jumping up and down in unison, with the ‘frequency’ of the bridge, could bring it down.

Interesting, I hope some people wade in on that idea.

My.daughter is flying to Seattle Monday to get her passport renewed. Can’t do it in Spokane because ours has a backlog and she’d never get it in time to fly to Australia for Christmas. Her friend, an ex-airline pilot, still gets free flights for both of them.

I don’t recall any bridges between the airport and downtown, but who knows what the crazies will do next.

I'm sure it's Jay Inslee.

The same asshat who allowed BLM protesters to shut down I-5.

Two people were struck down by a car that passed through a barricade. One died as a result.

Any repercussions for Governor asshat?

Of course not.

Doubling down and tripling down is a way of life for the sludge that runs this state.

Another example that MOST police will follow orders and nevermind that pesky Constitution.

I-5 does have a bridge that sits over Lake Union at about 182 feet that is called the Ship Canal Bridge, but it is the University Bridge that is in the news article. That bridge sits just a little bit east of the Ship Canal Bridge. It’s a double-leaf bascule (draw) bridge that was built in 1919 and sits about 42.5 feet above the water.

Having that demonstration on a Thursday is the worst day they could have chosen to do it on because Seattle traffic from beginning to the end of the day is the worst of the week. Then you have Eastlake Ave. E. that goes from the SE side of Lake Union to the bridge that people use to get from the north side of downtown Seattle up to the University District (Univ. of Washington).

What a freaking nightmare. I bet northbound I-5 and downtown traffic was extra backed up due to the University Bridge being shut down. It would have been much quicker just to take I-90 east to Bellvue, turn north on I-405, and then head back sounth or north on I-5.

I lived on Bainbridge Island, occasionally took ferries into town for shopping or doctor appts, so I’m no authority on Seattle and its bridges. On the contrary, I always got lost four blocks from the shore.

I did, however, know how to get from Bainbridge to Miami and back. Interstates are easy.

Glad I left before Seattle went nuts.

The protestors should have been arrested for false imprisonment.
