First time since 1860 that Democrats tried to keep the leading Republican candidate of the ballot.

“ First time since 1860 that Democrats tried to keep the leading Republican candidate of the ballot.”

I think it highly likely that history could again “rhyme.”

If Trump is elected again next year, I believe - pretty strongly - that the Left (with the support of much of the federal bureaucracy and numerous states) will revolt violently. (For when it comes to actual violence, the Left has the patriot side beat hands-down). That is when a hot civil conflict will begin, that will be their casus belli. The outcome will probably depend on where the loyalty of the military and law enforcement resides (no certain thing). But in the end I think it will signal a breakup of states and regions, leading to a Balkanization of the continent with China taking full advantage.

In 1860, the Democrats in seven Southern states, actually kept the Republican candidate for President (Abraham Lincoln) off of the ballot. Fortunately, the Democratic Parties split the vote three ways and the Republicans won the presidency for the first time.
