Kwanzaa, which honors African American and Pan-African culture and traditions, is celebrated from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1, The seven-night celebration stretches across millions of homes and communities around the world.

Here's what you need to know about the Kwanzaa holiday.

How did Kwanzaa originate?

Dr. Maulana Karenga, professor and chair of the department of Africana Studies at California State University, Long Beach, created Kwanzaa in 1966 during the Black Freedom Movement.

What does Kwanzaa mean?

The Swahili phrase "matunda ya kwanza," means "first fruits." African culture and major religions have a deep history of celebrations around "first fruits."

How is Kwanzaa celebrated?

During the holiday, families and communities organize around what are known as the seven principles, or Nguzo Saba.

What are the seven symbols of Kwanzaa?

The seven symbols of Kwanzaa are the Kinara, a candle holder; Mishumaa Saba, seven candles; Mkeka, the mat; Mazao, crops; Muhindi, ears of corn; Kikombe Cha Umoja, a unity cup; and Zawadi, gifts.

What do the colors red, green and black symbolize?

The Mishumaa Saba consists of seven candles. One black candle represents the people, or unity, and gets placed in the center of the Kinara.

The three red candles represent the people's struggles and three more green candles symbolize the future and hope that can come from struggle.

Who can celebrate Kwanzaa?

Kwanzaa is a cultural holiday, not a religious holiday, that can be celebrated alongside other major religious and secular holidays.

"... three more green candles symbolize the future and hope that can come from struggle."

Green represents the hope of reparations dollars.

To show you how guilt ridden white administrators and school instructors are from pre school on up. I went to a holiday celebration for my grand kids who are in pre school. The show consisted of 4 classes of about 20 or so kids. Everyone of those kids were white except about 3 black kids, 3 out of 60 kids. It went well all the kids had a great time and Im not a bah humbug about this but what I am annoyed with is the system hurrily including this into a holiday celebration out of fear, guilt or out of mental illness on thier part.

What I need to know about this is that according to the research at the Un. of Penn. this celebration is not a festival originating in any of the 55 African countries nor is it an “African” Christmas celebration. Kwanzaa is an African-Americans celebration of life from 26 December to 1 January. It’s an appeacement just like Cinco de Mayo to give a race something to stick in someones face to say this is ours.

It was created by Maulana Karenga who introduced the festival in 1966 to the United States as a response to the commercialism of Christmas.

In 1971, Karenga was sentenced to one to ten years in prison on counts of felony assault and false imprisonment. One of the victims gave testimony of how Karenga and other men tortured her and another woman. The woman described having been stripped naked and beaten with an electrical cord. Karenga’s estranged wife, Brenda Lorraine Karenga, testified that she sat on the other woman’s stomach while another man forced water into her mouth through a hose.

He also wrote extensively about the seven principles of Kwanzaa :unity (umoja), collective responsibility (ujima), cooperative economics (ujamaa), purposeful development of one’s people (nia), group autonomy (kujichagulia), communal creativity (kuumba), and faith in one’s people, parents, and teachers (imani). (Ann Coulter noted that these seven principles are the same collectivist beliefs touted by the Symbionese Liberation Army — the 70s terrorist group that kidnapped Patty Hearst.)

With the mainstreaming of Kwanzaa, Karenga has toned down , anti-religious rhetoric that he employed when touting the “sevenfold path of blackness” — “think black, talk black, actblack, create black, buy black, vote black, and live black.”Indeed, Karenga now denies that Kwanzaa was created “to give Black alternative to the existing holiday” — though those very words appear in his earlier writings.

So you have a fake holiday, made to confront religions in the US during the most holy time of year, created by a black activist criminal in an effort to confront whites, who in the past has used terrorist behaviors that included serving for kidnapping in a California prison. And that’s what I know about Kwanzaa. It’s a fraud and an appeasement.

Still think we need to open a chain of stores called “Kwanzaa Huts” and carry holiday fare. All made in chinUH of course. Would be as phony as Ron karenga’s phony holiday that guilt ridden caucky liberals have bought into.

“Kwanzaa means — black people don’t need to work that week.
Kwanzaa means — everything in the stores is free, if you’re black.
Kwanzaa means — if the police tell you to stop and put up your hands, you don’t have to listen to them.”

KWANZAA WAS STARTED BY A CRIMINAL, PURE AND SIMPLE AND THOSE WHO FOLLOW HIM, NEED TO START BY LEARNING SOME HISTORY.
