Regardless of the nuances of history, you would think a Republican presidential candidate in 2023 would have salivated at the opportunity to point out that the Republican Party was founded in 1854 on an anti-slavery political platform.

Nimrata Haley is politically tone-deaf and dumber than a bag of rocks. She may really believe the Civil War was fought to outlaw Confederate flags.

It's hard to grasp the stupidity of the Republican party. Here they have a founding issue that could define the party and it's policies, and instead they have totally mishandled it for nearly 170 years. This idiot Haley is just the latest example of a Performance Clown, put in front of voters by donors and the Murdock's. I hope her answer hangs around her neck like an anchor.

Just how much American History do you think she got as a child? Ask a recent school student who the first Republican President was. Actually, don’t even go that far back. Ask a recent student who America fought in WW II. What younger people don’t know about American history could ...... well, fill a book. Or two. Or 1,000.

Good point. Any Republican candidate for a national office should be able to recite the history of the founding of the Republican party, and its leading role in the fight against slavery and racial discrimination.

Haley is not only clueless about American history, but she is clueless about the history of the Republican party.

And she apparently didn't know that the civil war started because South Carolina seceded from the Union. Laws about slavery were certainly an issue, but that issued had existed for many years without the outbreak of war.
