MASCOTTE, Fla. —
A 16-year-old was shot and critically injured during a home invasion, Mascotte police say.
Police say the teen who was shot may have tried to break into at least two homes.
According to officials, Mascotte officers responded to an in-progress home invasion at Pine Needle Drive just after 6 a.m. on Dec. 28. There, they located a teenage male suspect who was shot by the homeowner.
The suspect was treated by Lake County EMS before being transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Officials say he is listed in critical condition.
According to officers, nobody in the home was injured and they are cooperating in the investigation, so they won't be facing any charges.
Officers believe the suspect may be linked to an earlier call of a young man attempting to break into another residence in that area. This is an ongoing investigation.
It has also been used in anti-gun propaganda with "statistics" such as: "guns are the leading cause of death of children and teens".
The "teens" include 18 and 19 year old adult gang-bangers and street criminals. Take out the 18 and 19 year old "children" and firearms related deaths are not even in the top 10.
Telling the police that ONLY that there has been a shooting at a given address leaves the possibility that there is an active shooter at that address.
The police will arrive ready to shoot anyone that may have a weapon.
Letting the police know that the perp is down and that the home owner is the shooter is better than leaving the question of the shooter open to question.
And never have the weapon in your hand when the police arrive. Have it easily visible, unloaded and with the breach open.
Don't give the police the slightest reason to see you as a threat.
You are late to the party - I expect the obligatory “Needs more range time.” comment no later than post #4.
LOL!
In Florida police work with innocent citizens. They see these citizens as people defending themselves against a dangerous person.
In riots with ‘protesters’ blocking roads, if we Floridians feel threatened we can keep driving. Not to intentionally run over protesters but to escape ... ‘protesters need to move out of the way. The result? Protesters in Florida don’t block roads.
We kept our schools open during the pandemic too.
I think more stupid than bold. Is there a home in Florida that isn’t armed?
Still doesnt prevent a criminals family suing you for deleting their good boy or girl.
It’s kind of ironic isn’t it?
The more they hide things the more obvious they make it.
I carry a business card sized copy of the following in my wallet, and provided the verbiage to all of my loved ones. “I’m looking forward to cooperating with you and any assigned investigators after I have an opportunity to consult with my lawyer. As of now, I do not consent to any search whatsoever or to be questioned. As such, I do not consent to a search of my premises, my person, my immediate location or any vehicle or effects. I hereby exercise my rights as enumerated by the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Ninth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution. I am requesting to have my attorney present prior to and throughout any questioning at all. Additionally, I request to call my attorney right now for a private legal consultation. - - Am I free to go?”
OH, THE HORROR!!
(heh, heh...)
1. Dial 911
2. Say your address and name.
3. Tell the dispatcher, “there’s a guy bleeding on my living room floor.”
4. Hang up.
5. Admit nothing, not even in FL, to the attending deputies.
Just gonna guess. Basketball-American?
That is my number one rule if I were to shoot a home invader (as I would characterize with the 911 dispatcher) inside my house. Also, stand or kneel with hands on top of head at least 6 feet from the weapon.
Number 2 rule if asked why or how did this occur? Only one answer: "I was in fear for my Wife's life and my own." If asked other questions, "I have nothing further to say until I talk with a lawyer."
Number 3 rule. If asked to search the premises? One answer, "Discuss that with my attorney."
Yes, in some States/Counties not answering all Police questions makes many LEO's suspicious. We live in California, so you probably understand my position. If it's a righteous shoot, things will pan out, except the lawyer fees.
“Suspected”?
He is suspected of doing what he actually was doing when he was caught and shot doing it ?
WTF is wrong with the brains of the people who write this S**T ???
FAFO.
I wonder if that will impact the homeowner’s insurance rates.
