Of course, the achool doesn’t want to make a scene. She will probably fade off into the sunset at some point. She has a reputation there that right now that is teetering. After a couple of news cycles maybe in a year or maybe 5 she’ll drift off to some other opportunity.
I don’t think so. She’s got a cushy job making lots of money. Most people would be so humiliated doing what she did, they’d slink off somewhere. But she’s made herself a false victim of racism along with Harvard seeing her as a victim. She perversely has the last laugh.
She’s too high profile but I worked from 1969-2017 at two universities and saw a number of recycled presidents come and go. One was a woman who was a spitefully angry alcoholic. Another couple resigned under serious legal allegations.
Little known secret outside academia: If one university or college can barely stand to have their leader stay they give them a glowing sendoff to another one that welcomes the new leader until that one moves on to give problems to the next place. Goes on and on.
She will continue with her $890,000 salary.
