Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will be the only two Republican presidential candidates facing off in tonight's final GOP debate before the Iowa caucuses kick off the 2024 nominating process on Monday.
Former President Donald Trump also qualified, but plans to skip it and instead hold a televised town hall meeting at the same time. Two candidates — former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy — did not meet CNN's thresholds to qualify after appearing in December's debate.
The debate gives Haley and DeSantis another opportunity in front of a national audience to emerge as the top alternative to Trump, who is dominating in the polls, before the primary campaign shifts into full gear.

the other thing to know is that won’t be anymore GOP primary debates this cycle, fake or otherwise, because pretty soon EVERYONE currently running will also be irrelevant except Donald Trump ...

vivek, too, couldn’t meet the polling criteria set by CNN for inclusion ... it wasn’t a matter of being invited, but a matter of making the cut for inclusion ... Trump, of course, made the cut, but instead chose to have his own live town hall on FNC opposite CNN’s fake “debate” ...
He did not qualify. His polling wasn’t good enough.

I agree. He got some terrible advice to convince him to run in 2024.
The debates are just trying to hurt Trump. The primary, obviously is also manipulated by the media. Christie is substantially ahead of Desanctimonius in the first primary. The only reason to keep him out was to drive him out of the race in hopes that it will get her the upset win in NH.
Minstrel show. Think about it. Put there for their appearance and the amusement of people that don’t like them. A woman and man of color. Think of it them blackface.

Yes DeSantis clearly won against the worn out DeSantis Lies.com. Even though it was on CNN, most questions/follow-ups seemed reasonable except Crapper’s comment that scientist say floods are causing climate change. DeSantis was polished, professional, and well prepared and wasn’t daunted by the Haley desperation cheap shots. He is the best candidate the GOP can put forward.
Watched a couple of droplets of Trump on Fox and he was in his sixth grade name-calling BS, wishy washy on several issues and otherwise BORING. I supported him in 16 and will support him in 24 if he is the nominee. But his probable convictions and presstitute calumny will cause his defeat and the end of the USA. If he weren’t being persecuted by the extreme left-wing, he would have a more difficult time winning the nomination. Expect daily MAGAs killing democracy. In actuality DeSantis is far more conservative than Trump! I challenge any Trump fan boy on here to show how/where Trump is more conservative than Ron. Any GOPer that might win will result in riots, lawsuits at Dem judges unless a prez uses the power of government to stop it. Heaven help the USA.
And both will lose the primaries in their home states by 20-30 points on the low end.

Didn’t watch it, but the one thing on the news I saw was they were yet again talking about Trump. That won’t sway any votes toward these two losers.
Neither did I. I came here to see how it went, apparently it was a snoozer, glad I watched Trump instead.
