IF a state allows 4/10’s, no overtime is involved.
There has been a lot of time wasted in every office I’ve worked in. If employees were expected to produce the same on a four-day week, I bet a lot of them could do it. (Not every type of work, of course; but lots of office-type jobs.)
Since the 70s, US worker productivity has massively exploded according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It’s been a decades long trend. Compensation of employees in that time has tracked at less than a third of that increase. Compensation of executives has massively exploded orders of magnitude that time frame.
And they love foolish people leading the charge on their behalf.
While relaxing at work they await the arrival of the unicorn with magic dust in her saddlebags.🧁 🥤🌞🦄
I work 50 hours over 4 days. It’s nice to have off 3 days straight.
What about the last 3 years?
It sure is hard spreading Pfauci propaganda, isn’t it?
Almost as hard as a real barista job.
And a lot harder than a cushy Fed sinecure.
What you said. Hear, hear.
In the ‘70s my employer went to a four-hour work week. It was great. Every Monday off.
:)
Prosperity for whom? It sure in hell isn't the American middle class.
When my company started offering 4/10’s I jumped on it, not because I necessarily wanted or needed the extra day off, but because I have a 45 minute drive both ways and it saves a ton on gas and aggravation, ironically on the four days I am in the office as well because going in an hour earlier and leaving an hour later I miss the worst part of rush hour on both ends. Does make for some long work days though...
“Young workers in particular see it as the wave of the future, while others worry it will undermine America prosperity.”
So, young workers lament that they arent able to have as high a standard of living as their parents and plan to work 4-days a week to catch up?
For a while I was working 5 days on, 4 off, 3 on, 2 off (10-hour days). That was a nice schedule. You could go somewhere on your 4 off.
I want Biden's 24/7 schedule: 24 weeks per year, 7 hours per week.
I worked a schedule for a while that was every other Friday off, so you worked 9 hour days. One week was 45 hours, the next was 36 so it averaged out to about 40 / week. Not sure i liked it. The day off was nice, but the extra hour every work day ate into sleep / time with family every day.
Four 10s has been common for decades in certain industries that require a lot of setup at the beginning of shifts and tear down at the end.
There was one team that worked 4 12 hour days. 40 regular time, 8 overtime and 3 day weekends. Never could bid that dept......
We worked 6 days a week 16 hours a day in the oilfield when I was 19
Girls work 40 hours a week.
