Ron DeSantis is seeking an 'off-ramp' from his 2024 campaign, according to reports, following a disappointing performance in Iowa - buoyed by the promise from Trump supporters to back him in 2028.

Speaking on Tuesday in South Carolina, DeSantis said that Trump voters in Iowa had told him they would support him in four years.

'They were coming up to me saying, "We want you in 2028, we love you, man," he said.

He told a similar story on NBC News.

Andrew Romeo, the DeSantis campaign's communications director, said DeSantis was in the race 'for the long haul,' through South Carolina and beyond.

"22nd Amendment...if Trump wins this year, a write-in for him won’t be helpful."

I'll likely be dead by then, so it won't matter anyway.

“””Yes it’s tragic actually. Ron was great, a daily example of what a good Conservative Governor can do. He had a near lock on 28 no matter how 24 played out and he threw it away.”””

I commented earlier along the same lines. It is tragic. I started watching DeSantis when he was on the House Judiciary.

In his 2018 to 2022 Governship DeSantis said and did the right things at the right time.

Then in 2023 DeSantis crapped all over himself by believing the RINO donors and consultants that he could dethrone King Trump in 2024.

There is a story in the Bible where Absolum believed his donors and advisors that he could take on King David and it did not work out well for Absolum.

Interesting you bring up Absolum…. David the ‘sinner’ was Written to be a man after God's own heart.. David did not dethrone Saul of the tribe of Benjamin…. Even after David had been anointed to replace Saul..

I hope DeSantis continues to fight for what’s right—just not the nomination.

This country won’t exist in 2028 unless President Donald Trump is reelected

One of the reasons, my good FRiend, that Mister Trump will lose bigly in the general, is that he has chosen to insult and name-call his way into a split party.

I take the view that any GOPer, even Trump, would be better than the Dem (my guess, Moochelle) nom, and I'll vote accordingly.

That said, I know GOPers (my DW included) who are so infuriated by Trump's foolish behaviors, that they decline to vote for him.

Trump has no chance in the general, I wish I had better news.

LOL! He'll likely lose because RATS and their wide-reaching connections will steal the election once again. It won't be because he insults people in his own party. He did that in 2016, and has continued to do so these past 7 years. It hasn't cost him his popularity. In fact, he's more popular than ever.

True conservatives don't want pansy-a$$es as their candidates. We tried that with the likes of George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush, John McCain, and Mitt Romney...all gutless wonders, who wouldn't fight against any Democrat and media attacks against them, but sat there like scolded puppies, with their tails between their legs. If they won't fight for themselves, how will they ever fight for you?

I voted for Trump specifically because he speaks out, fights for himself and me, and calls a spade, a spade. And more people than your fickle acquaintances have stuck with him since 2015. I would never vote for another Republican pussy, and unfortunately, there's plenty of them in the Grand Old Pussy Party. The people you are talking about couldn't have possibly voted for Trump in 2016, because he was the same man then, that he is now. He hasn't changed one bit. He's just much better at recognizing the back-stabbing slugs in the Republican Party.

True. I agree with you on that. Mail in ballots. So fraud is going to be a factor.

Also, white women are not fans of Trump. They voted for him in '16 over Hillary. But they rejected him in '20.

Biden will run on abortion.

LOL!! I'm a white woman. Been white and female my whole 76 years. I voted for Trump in 2016, 2020, and if I'm alive in November, I'll vote for him a third time. I don't know where you're getting your info, but it ain't working for you.

Too late.

If Ron was too stupid to see that he was being manipulated, he’ll never qualify as Presidential material.

I loved the guy...HE SHOULD HAVE WAITED TIL PRESIDENT TRUMP LEFT OFFICE.

I would not vote for him now. And that makes me sad.

Fraudulent absentee ballots got Joe elected, but yeah, there’s a lot of stupid women out there. The same ones who voted for Hillary, voted for Joe and HairA$$.

Apparently the difference was the women living in the suburbs of Atlanta, Milwaukee and Philadelphia. Plus "mail in ballots".

DeSantis is a wonderful governor and I hope he’s re-elected.

Disappointing performance as prez candidate does not mean we should badmouth him. Eating our own sucks.

I have a hard time believing that the suburbs of those Democrat-run cities haven't been infiltrated by liberals, like they have in the Democrat-run cities of Rochester, Syracuse, and Buffalo, New York. The suburbs in those cities in New York now look just like the inner-city themselves, with the same amount of crime as the cities.

I'm a Trump guy but your point is well taken, too many on here defame DeSantis and even his military experience (probably because thy are not vets) and spend their time attacking him and GOP canddates without doing anything to help defeat the left (donate $s, campaign,) You have to give the Dems credit on one thing, they know how to win, they never attack each other like this, and these juvenile attacks on DeSantis and others only help the left adn make a Trump victory very iffy
