I used to commute to jobs in Africa, and South America and Atlanta has always been my favorite airport.
Quit flying out of Miami, the worst in the USA, because it was such a rotten experience.

Just flew from DFW to CDG and back last September. Love both of those Airports. I would rather die than to connect through Heathrow.

Must be where you come in and how you leave. I would come in on American Airlines, straight to customs, and then straight to my train. So you could have totally different experiences.

I would put puerto rico at the top. The place is just nasty. Once our plan was late and the AMerican airlines was going to let us use their customs and immigration line to get to our connecting flight. The female in charge said no. And then you get to the bar and you always had to hunt down the bar tender and order. We used to make bets on how many people never got waited on because they thot that by sitting at a table you would get waited on. Never happen.

The only two I’ve ever gone through are Denver and DFW. I don’t recall any problems with either one. DFW made it easy to get from one of the alphabets to another one. Why Phoenix didn’t make the list is beyond me. It took me an hour to figure out how to get from terminal 3 to Terminal 4 to make my connecting flight. Not to mention, you have to leave one security zone and go through the TSA nonsense all over again when you get to the other terminal.

They had a train in the past. Skylink is sweet. Skyline is chili in Cincinnati.

Been there 4 times but never connected. No problems but the last time was 1988.

I totally agree PHL is the worst. The black workers I’ve encountered are totally racist, rude, spiteful, and impossible to engage. On the other hand, black workers at DCA are pleasant, personable, and likable. I avoid PHL whoever possible. The only other US airport I avoid is LGA, but I’ve read it’s gotten better.

Various parts of it have been undergoing a massive staged renovation dating back to the 1990s.

Newark sucks. But it's getting nicer. Still a long way to go. At this rate, they'll be done by 2050.

Kansas City used to be really terrible coming and going, but I think they finally abandoned the old terminals. And you have to rent a car- no transit options.

It’s been years but Boston was a crap hole last time I went through it. Philadelphia needed a re-build as well

On the other hand, except for poor signage in connection with the construction processes, I have found Charlotte to be fine, with a nice food court and rocking chairs.

For small airports, Reagan and Love are pretty well set up; Hobby not so much. And Baton Rouge needed a new airport 40 years ago.

I always found San Antonio to have inadequate air conditioning.

Atlanta is terrible to try to get through the TSA choke point. It’s fine before and after that. I did have a rental car bus driver that would only drop folks off on the Delta side. If you wanted to fly someone else, expect a long walk toward baggage claim to cross over).

DFW is great except for international to domestic transfers (distributed TSA checkpoints, express trains between terminals once inside security, great amenities)

Vegas TSA could be a mess or a breeze - a real gamble on whether the gambling tourists were headed out.

Denver was a mess to get to the rental cars last time I was there - you have to stand out in the weather to wait for an overcrowded bus that might or might not stop.

Last time I was through Miami, they needed a bulldozer and a start from scratch.

LAX was a mixed bag - not terrible, but in need of an updating and improved transportation.

As far as terminals go, mci should be in the top three

I haven't been there since they got the new terminal; I thought it was supposed to be a lot better now. In the old days, it was like they hired a consultant to identify worst practices and then implemented them all.

I always tried to get a window seat flying into San Diego so I could look in the eye level windows of the passing buildings.

I haven’t been through mci in a few years. I didn’t know they built a new terminal. I’ll look it up. Thx

Looks like they have about 40 gates on two transverse piers with a central corridor connecting the two. They tore down one of the almost circle terminals and the other two have been abandoned, I think. It has to be an improvement.
